Research Assistant I/II in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 537124)

We now invite applications for the captioned post. The appointee will provide opportunities to work with researchers on project(s) related to evaluation of service utilisation of hard-to-reach elderly and early warning system in the community. Working irregular hours and/or on weekends, particularly for data collection, may be required occasionally.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, analyse, and interpret data through survey and other means
• develop research questions and conduct evidence review
• prepare manuscripts and reports
• liaise with internal and external parties to facilitate research activities
• perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Social Sciences, or a related discipline;
• Preferably at least 1 year of relevant research or data-related experience; candidates with strong technical skills in data processing, statistical analysis and problem solving may also be considered;
• Good knowledge of quantitative research methods, survey data processing, statistical analysis and data management;
• Proficiency in at least one statistical or programming software package, such as R, Stata, Python or SPSS; experience with reproducible data workflows would be an advantage;
• Familiarity with survey weighting, longitudinal data, administrative data, elderly/youth -related research, or large-scale social science datasets would be an advantage;
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex datasets accurately and responsibly;
• The ability to translate complex data insights into clear and accessible language for non-technical audiences.
• A strong sense of research ethics, data confidentiality and information security;
• A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
• The ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with researchers and project team members;
• Self-motivation, responsibility, maturity and a willingness to learn; and
• Research experience in mental health projects in Hong Kong would be an advantage.

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
