Job Description

  • 2 x Full time 12 month fixed term roles-part time can be negotiated for suitable candidates
  • Join the Centre for Kidney Research at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead as a Research Assistant, supporting innovative projects focused on improving patient-centred care and health outcomes for people with kidney disease.
  • Base Salary $93,345 (pro rata for part- time role ) + 17% superannuation

An excellent opportunity exists for Research Assistants to support Professor Allison Jaure and the team within The Better Evidence and Translation – Chronic Kidney Disease (BEAT-CKD) Centre of Research Excellence.

You will work collaboratively alongside patients, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers, contributing to both qualitative and quantitative studies that drive improved health outcomes for patients with chronic kidney disease.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • contribute to the design and development of research protocols and ensure timely execution of activities
  • coordinate and submit grant applications in line with funding requirements
  • provide advice on research regulations, policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, ensuring data quality and accuracy
  • collaborate with researchers, clinical specialists and partners to share findings and progress
  • preparation of high-quality reports for presentation and delivery to collaborators
  • manage documentation for research publications, including drafting, submission and record keeping
  • facilitate stakeholder engagement with patients, caregivers and collaborators to support research outcomes
  • coordinate reporting activities and ensure data accuracy within university systems
  • process purchasing and payment activities, including invoice management
  • support a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety processes and identifying improvements
  • undertake other duties appropriate to the classification level as required


About you

  • tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in public health or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications (completed or in progress) are desirable
  • demonstrated experience in clinical research
  • experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • proven experience in data collection, analysis and reporting, with strong attention to detail
  • experience conducting scientific literature searches and preparing literature reviews to inform research activities
  • strong interest in kidney disease and broader public health research, including education, implementation and evaluation
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, manage conflict and exercise tact and discretion
  • strong problem-solving capability with the ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgement and prioritise competing workloads during busy periods
  • ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment
  • experience preparing high-quality reports, presentations and written documentation
  • experience engaging with patients, caregivers and diverse stakeholders, including workshop facilitation
  • willingness to learn new research software; training will be provided
