  • The RA will perform experiments to support multiple projects in the lab. The type of work will include, but is not limited to, animal behaviour, biochemical analyses, molecular and cell biology experiments, histology, flow cytometry, cell culture. Importantly they will maintain a complete paper and electronic lab notebook
  • The RA will work directly with and support students, postdocs and other members of the lab
  • When requested, the RA will manage the progress of individual research projects

  • Qualifications:
    The candidate will have a BSc in Cell and Molecular Biology or a similar field, prior experience in neuroscience research labs and expertise with relevant experimental techniques including immunofluorescent staining, in situ hybridization, confocal and fluorescent microscopy and advanced image analysis. Familiarity with pain neuroimmunology and dissection skills for relevant tissues.


    OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrable experience with electronic lab notebooks
  • Excellent record keeping and experimental planning
  • Expertise in extracellular matrix biology
  • Proficiency with image analysis programs
  • Proficiency with figure design programs
  • Demonstrable excellent, independent scientific writing ability ( eg from undergraduate thesis research project)
