The Research Analyst II, Global Thermal Coal position requires a junior research analyst with a minimum of 2 years of experience in researching coal, iron ore, steel or manganese. The Research Analyst II, Global Thermal Coal is expected to work within the legacy McCloskey team to perform research and insight functions, as well as additional analysis as needed, including contributions to consulting projects.
Job Duties:
Help maintain regular data deliverables.
Contribute to or author country/ regional reports for coal.
Contribute to weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc deliverables.
Help develop new deliverables, including data visualizations in PowerBI.
Regularly collaborate with power and gas teams and contribute to work outside of thermal coal, (e.g. iron ore, manganese) particularly as it relates to Southern Africa.
Contribute to ad hoc team needs, such as social media, webinars, and events.
Required Education:
Graduate degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, international relations, or an industry-related field required.
Graduate degree with quantitative skills a plus.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in researching coal, iron ore, steel or manganese, or relevant related research, or within the mining industry, or its related markets.
Other Skills:
Strong writing ability is crucial and will be examined during the interview process.
Strong numerical and data analytical skills
Effective verbal communication skills
Advanced proficiency with MS Office applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint). Knowledge of Python, PowerBI, Tableau, VBA advantageous.
