
The student will perform quality assurance tests for scintillating fibers within the Medium Energy Physics group’s program to build the EIC’s imaging calorimeter. The student will use a test bench that has already been set up, take measurements and report them. In parallel, the student will work to improve neutron identification in the central detector of the CLAS12 detector, in the context of the Medium Enegy Physic’s group involvment in the study of the structure of nucleons with the CLAS collaboration. The student will refine a machine-learning approach, will write an analysis note and implement code in the collaboration’s software.

Python programming language, generic hands-on physics laboratory knowledge, bachelors-level particle physics knowledge

Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution.
Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or
Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
• Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
• Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• If accepting an offer, candidates may be required to complete pre-employment drug testing based on appointment length. All students remain subject to applicable drug testing policies.
