Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Research Administrator to support the UCLA Tarjan Center and PEERs Clinic. We are a nationally recognized center dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with developmental and neurodevelopment disabilities. The Tarjan Center advances research, education, community engagement, and systems change initiatives that promote inclusion, independence, and quality of life across the lifespan.

You will provide comprehensive support for sponsored research administration and serve as key liaison among faculty, funding agencies, community organizations, and campus partners to ensure the successful administration and growth of federally, state, foundation, and privately funding programs. Key responsibilities:

  • Manage pre-award and post-award administration for sponsored research projects, grants, and contracts
  • Develop, monitor, reconcile, and analyze project budgets and financial reports
  • Coordinate grant proposal preparation, submission, and compliance activities
  • Administer contract, sub awards, and other sponsored project agreements
  • Support philanthropic partnerships, community collaborations, and strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate outreach, dissemination, conferences, trainings, and stakeholders engagement activities
  • Ensure compliance with sponsor, regulatory, and University requirements
Salary range: $35.23/hr - $53.67/hr


Job Qualifications


Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in research administration, grant admission, contract administration, financial management, budget development, or related business operations
  • Experience supporting pre-award and post-award sponsored research activities
  • Demonstrated experience developing, monitoring, reconciling, and reporting on complex budgets
  • Knowledge of sponsored research administration principles federal grant regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to interpret funding guidelines, contracts, and regulatory requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills
Preferred:
  • Master’s degree (preferred)
  • Experience administering large federal, state, foundation, or cooperative agreement awards
  • Experience working with CA state agencies and government-funded programs
  • Experience developing grant proposals, funding submissions, and external partnerships with community organizations, foundations, and government agencies
  • Experience working within the University of California system, including knowledge of UC research administration policies and procedures
  • Experience using research and financial management systems such as UCPath, Oracle, Cayuse, ERS, or similar platforms
