
The Research Administrator II is responsible for supporting all aspects of research funding management for faculty and investigators within the Department of Imaging Sciences. Support will include identification and dissemination of potential funding sources, assistance with grant proposal planning and submissions, in collaboration with central Grants Management and Grants Accounting groups. Awarded project cycle management will include initial budgeting and planning, sub-award management, salary allocations, interim financial monitoring and rebudgeting, progress report support and project close-out. Strong attention to detail, organization, time management and deadline awareness as well as diligent and professional maintenance of records will be essential. In a rapidly evolving research funding landscape, it will be necessary to commit to continual learning and sharing of information regarding funding opportunities, rules and regulations across a broad range of federal agencies, foundations and institutional funding opportunities. Supporting a new academic department at St Jude, establishing workflows and communication cadence, developing standard procedures and relationships with internal and external partners will be essential to success.
Job Responsibilities:
Assistwith identification ofappropriate researchfunding opportunities,disseminatinginformation anddeadlinesand supporting planning and execution of individual and collaborative applications.
Understandand apply federal and other sponsor guidelines and regulatory compliance requirements to support investigators and other relevant teamswith grant applications and funded project support
Contribute to the development, preparation, revision, and finalization of project budgets and budget justifications.
Support preparation of proposals including preparing submission checklists, ensuring compliance,managementand maintenance of required documents such asbiosketches, facilities and equipment documents, other support,protocolsand collaborator agreements.
In collaboration with Grants Management and Grants Accounting,coordinate submission andsupportmanagement ofawardedresearch funding,grantsand sponsored programs (e.g., preparation and review ofinitialbudgets,budgetmonitoring,monitoringof subawards,salary and effort allocations,award lifecycle management, priorapprovalsand close-out).
Coordinate with members from research teams, sponsorinstitutionsand other teams tofacilitatestandard issueresolution, andescalate as needed.
Manage negotiation of standard terms and conditions associated with sponsored research agreements to ensure consistency with institutional policies.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals andobjectivesof the department and institution.
Prior experience with research finance, grantpreparationandgrantsmanagement, particularly in technical biomedical areas including imaging and technologydevelopmentwill be a major advantage.
Exceptional attention to detail and time management is essential.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum Requirement: 2+ years of experience in financial administration processes as applicable to grants and sponsored programs.
Experience infinancial managementand budgeting including strong competence in MS Excel or equivalent.
Experiencerelating to biomedical research funding includinggrants and sponsored programs.
This position is primarily onsite. Relocation assistance is provided to candidates who do not reside in the Memphis area.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Research Administrator II - Department of Imaging Sciences.
