This candidate will provide systems engineering and integration support to the Systems Design & Definition Branch (EV72) for the Human Landing System (HLS) elements and to the MSFC Systems Engineering and Integration Division (EV70).

The candidate will coordinate and interface with multiple HLS engineering disciplines, system elements, cross-program elements, and customers, as well as participate in HLS reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies. The candidate will provide support for the development and integration of systems engineering solutions of key systems engineering products including requirements specifications, support program/project deliverables and subsequent activities where these products are assessed and matured.The successful candidate will work with the Human Landing System element customers/partners from inception to deployment to ensure stakeholder needs are satisfied.

System engineering support to be provided by the candidate includes the following responsibilities:

·Support development of HLS requirements and verification products and ensure compliance with these requirements during development, testing and evaluation of HLS sub-elements.

·Provide technical integration with other engineering disciplines, the HLS Program, and cross-program elements, including risk-based insight/oversight through assessment of requirements and verification activities.

·Support the HLS Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) and Engineering Discipline Lead Engineers (EDLEs) to evaluate prime contractor deliverables, including assessments of element Detailed Verification Objectives and verification of allocated end item specification requirements.

·Support for performing systems engineering tasks and assessments to support the HLS Program through reviews, meetings, working groups, trade studies and development of key systems engineering products to support program milestones.

·Support for developing integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage the work and identify risks and opportunities.

·Support for implementing Digital Engineering best practices, approaches, techniques, and tools.

·Communicate technical issues, risks, best practices and lessons-learned related to products, technical positions, requirement management, and V&V practices and develop integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage systems engineering tasks.

·Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks related to the products, processes and interactions in the systems engineering processes and document them in the NASA Risk Management System.

Here's What You'll Need:

Qualifications

A degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Systems Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering and integration, launch vehicle definition, functional design, design integration, launch vehicle performance analyses, flight evaluation planning, requirement verification, and/or requirement validation.

Applicants must have the following required qualifications:

·Ability to function in a self-directed dynamic work environment as an effective team member, willing to assume a leadership role in the HLS systems engineering effort.

·Education and/or experience in systems engineering principles and practices, including requirements, verification strategies, and verification planning.

·Familiarity with working across organizational boundaries and engineering disciplines to facilitate and execute program systems engineering tasks and resolve systems integration issues.

·Familiarity with Systems Engineering policies and procedures related to verification and experience with using tools/systems to manage verification compliance data.

·Familiarity with developing and delivering briefings, with strong oral, written, and customer relation skills, and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

·Education and/or experience with Digital Engineering tools, such as: DOORS Next Generation, Jira, MagicDraw, or similar tools.

·Provide proof of US citizenship and STAR ID

Applicants should also have one or more of the following desired qualifications:

·Experience with defining and managing interfaces, interface requirements, and interface verification.

·Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures.

·Familiarity with aerospace vehicles and system design.

·Demonstrated experience working across organizational boundaries and engineering disciplines to facilitate and execute program systems engineering tasks and resolve systems integration issues.

·Knowledge of the current Artemis program and a working understanding of interface requirement and control documentation.

·Knowledge of launch vehicle programmatic planning processes and experience performing oversight of prime contractor hardware production, test, and certification efforts.

·Certification in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), particularly Object Management Group® (OMG)-Certified Systems Modeling Professional™ (OCSMP™) Certification

·Familiarity with the development of requirements and traceability to ensure compliance during development, testing and evaluation of sub-elements.

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (5%). Requires ability to work at a computer for long periods of time (100%).

Physical Requirements:

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).

Equipment and Machines:

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).

Attendance:

Normal workday 7:30-4:30, Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity, and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.

Other Essential Functions:

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
