Job Description

The Requirements and Acceptance Specialist III is accountable for the planning, coordination, and delivery of Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) to confirm compliance with Contractual requirements, Customer Specifications, applicable Class and Regulatory requirements, and internal Quality Control (QC) processes. This role provides oversight of requirements and acceptance activities across shipyard projects and reports to the Manager, Quality Assurance.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 825 Admirals Road, Victoria.

What you'll do

  • Provides functional direction and task coordination to Quality Assurance project personnel, including unionized employees, within assigned scope.
  • Manages the submission, tracking, and acceptance (where applicable) of customer quality packages and records.
  • Coordinates the planning, control, and close-out of work packages for commercial and dockyard projects.
  • Provides input and recommendations for the continuous improvement of project-specific quality processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Assists with the coordination and implementation of quality related processes.
  • Liaison with external customer for quality related questions, support, and customer complaints.
  • Tracks and verifies non-conformance and corrective action status and provides reporting to Quality Management.
  • Reviews and assesses non-conformances within assigned scope and coordinates with Shipyard personnel to implement corrective actions or procedural updates; escalates systemic issues as required.
  • Assists in maintaining the quality management system in a manner consistent with the quality management system manual and communicates the requirements and procedures to all employees.
  • Participates in the Lessons Learned process for surface projects as required.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

What you'll bring

  • 8-10 years of experience with complex projects involving diverse participants or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Diploma of Technology or equivalent practical experience
  • Quality (ISO 9001) experience is an asset.
  • Shipbuilding or heavy industrial manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience working in trades or production environments is an asset.
  • Knowledge of requirements and acceptance management processes.
  • Proficient in interpreting functional drawings.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and proactively plan and execute acceptance activities.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Technical skills and understanding of modern shipbuilding design, procurement and production techniques are desirable.
  • Commitment to operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to move regularly between office spaces, fabrication shops, graving docks, and onboard vessels.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of program management and project management skills is an asset.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools is an asset.

The estimated salary for this position is $99,000 - $121,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
