DRILL STEM TESTING (DST) OPERATIONS ENGINEER
HSE Responsibilities

Demonstrates personal commitment to COMPANY HSE Policy
Maintains awareness of and ensures compliance with all relevant Statutory and COMPANY
HSE standards.
Actively participates in Company safety awareness and initiative schemes and ensures the
contractors under his/her responsibility are compliant
Promote personnel safety, protection of the environment and COMPANY assets in all assigned
operations
Ensure all aspects of the DST and surface well testing preparation and operations comply with
COMPANY Referential and best practices.
Responsible for avoiding major risks relating to COMPANY DST and surface well test operation
Context
Resident office-based position in Port Harcourt with occasional visits to Lagos office and
mandatory routine wellsite visits to support the supervisors
Adapt to multi-cultural and professionally transverse team
Safe and efficient delivery of multimillion dollar DST project(s)
IWCF certified and comply with COMPANY D&W safety & mandatory training matrix
Interface with entities external to D&W: Geosciences & Reservoir engineering, Field
Operations, Purchasing & Contract, Technical Logistics, HSE, etc.
Job Responsibilities
Participates in planning, equipment procurement, equipment preparation, service company
coordination, optimizations, for Deepwater DST and surface well testing operations
Prepare DST program which includes operations sequence, risk assessment, contingency
steps. Knowledgeable in Deepwater DST troubleshooting and operations closeout routine.
Provides technical support to Drilling Superintendent and site personnel during DST well site
operations. Ensures procedures are followed by well site supervisors. Where applicable
ensures Management of Change (MOC) is prepared & risk assessed timely to continue
operations.
Organise and lead the complete well on paper (CWOP) and risk assessment sessions for DST
operations.
Performs visits to services companies to oversee equipment preparation and drive service
quality.
Perform rig site visit for equipment intake, rigup, and assist the site supervisors onsite as
required; fill into the role of rigsite supervisor when there are gaps in site supervision
Ensures lessons learnt and best practices are communicated to service company and other
stakeholders.
Follows well KPI and service quality database, and benchmark operations against planned
performance.
Actively participates in performance and Drilling & Wells Improvement Process (DWIP)
meetings. Follow up and close out any highlighted DST related and other improvement actions.
Participate in DST and surface well test contractor service quality and safety audits
Ensure DST related WELLVIEW DDR entries are accurate
Track DST operations spend vs budget to ensure there is sufficient fund for the project
Qualifications/Experience/Skills Required
Minimum of HND or BSc in Engineering domain with >10-years Deepwater DST experience
Team spirit and good interpersonal skills. Good English oral, written presentation and
communication skill
Basic experience in Deepwater DST contracts management and DST project financing
Subsea DST/landing string design and DST String Stress Analysis (using WellCAT or
equivalent)
Surface well test equipment design, sizing and optimization
In-depth knowledge of DST/well equipment, surface well test equipment, subsea landing string,
general drilling and completion techniques
Excellent analytical, reporting, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills
Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills for process and technical issues
Sound knowledge of the local regulations (and best practices) governing DST and surface well
testing in Nigerian Deepwater Context
Possess the following certifications:
o BOSIET /THUET certificate and annual medical examination certificate.
o Category A, Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS).
o Shall possess a valid OSP (Offshore Safety Permit)
o IWCF Level 4 Combined Supervisor. Well Intervention Pressure Control - Engineer Level-
4 may be considered if the candidate shall pass IWCF Level-4 combined in less than 1-
month after resumption
