Report Developer – Team Lead (Band 6)

About the Role:

You will be leading a cross-functional team of report developers, using agile methodologies to build and deliver reporting solutions across multiple platforms — including SSRS, Power BI, and Qlik Sense — for the financial services industry. As a Team Lead, you are expected to go beyond individual contribution by guiding, mentoring, and directing a group of developers to ensure consistent quality, technical excellence, and timely delivery. We are looking for a hands-on leader who champions collaboration, drives innovation, and takes ownership of the team's output end-to-end — from report development and database design to deployment automation and platform evolution. The ideal candidate brings a decade of deep reporting experience, consistently demonstrates a proactive mindset in identifying and adopting emerging technologies, maintains a strong culture of documentation and collaborative tooling, and leverages Python scripting to extend and enhance reporting capabilities across the team.

Job Duties in Brief:

• Lead and direct a group of report developers, providing technical guidance, task delegation, workload management, and performance support
• Facilitate and actively contribute to all Agile ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Pair Programming sessions
• Serve as the primary technical escalation point for report development challenges across platforms
• Design and develop reports using SSRS, Power BI (Advanced), and Qlik Sense
• Design and develop database objects including queries, tables, views, and stored procedures in support of reporting solutions
• Drive code review practices and enforce development standards across the team
• Oversee and manage the support and maintenance lifecycle of existing reporting solutions, ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement across the reporting portfolio
• Proactively monitor the reporting environment, anticipate issues, and implement preventive measures before they impact business operations
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and manage delivery expectations
• Utilize and integrate Python scripts to automate reporting workflows, data transformation, scheduled tasks, and integration processes between reporting platforms and data sources
• Proactively research, evaluate, and champion emerging reporting and data visualization technologies, presenting recommendations to business and technology stakeholders to address evolving needs
• Manage and track project tasks, bugs, and delivery progress using JIRA, ensuring sprint boards and backlogs are accurately maintained
• Maintain and contribute to team knowledge bases, technical documentation, runbooks, and process guides using Confluence
• Oversee source code management and branching strategies using Bitbucket and/or GitHub, ensuring best practices in version control are followed across the team
• Champion a strong documentation culture — ensuring all reports, database objects, Python scripts, processes, and system changes are thoroughly documented and kept up to date
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes, tooling, and reporting architecture

About You:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in report development, support, and maintenance across enterprise reporting environments
• Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, Power Query, row-level security, and enterprise deployment
• Proven experience with SSRS, including advanced features such as parameters, sub-reports, drilldowns, and conditional formatting
• Strong experience designing and developing database objects with RDBMS platforms
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and direct a team of developers, including task assignment, technical coaching, and delivery oversight
• Extensive experience in supporting and maintaining production reporting systems, including incident management, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and version upgrades
• Working knowledge of Python scripting with demonstrated ability to utilize and integrate Python in reporting workflows, including but not limited to:
  • Data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
  • Automation of report generation and distribution tasks
  • Integration between reporting platforms and backend data sources
  • Data wrangling and preprocessing using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or openpyxl
  • Scheduled task automation and scripted deployment support
• Proactive and forward-thinking approach to technology — consistently monitors industry trends, evaluates new tools and platforms, and drives adoption of innovations that improve reporting capabilities and business outcomes
• Hands-on experience with JIRA for agile project tracking, sprint management, and issue resolution workflows
• Proficiency in Confluence for creating and maintaining technical documentation, team wikis, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
• Experience with Bitbucket and/or GitHub for source code management, pull request workflows, branching strategies, and collaborative code reviews
• Strong documentation skills — ability to produce clear, structured, and comprehensive technical and functional documentation including design specifications, data dictionaries, deployment guides, and support runbooks
• Experience working in and facilitating Agile/Scrum environments
• Solid proficiency in core software development practices — debugging, code tuning, refactoring, and version control
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Self-motivated, accountable, and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Desired / Asset:

• Qlik Sense experience or working knowledge — ability to develop and maintain Qlik applications is a strong advantage
• Experience with PostgreSQL and JSON processing
• Advanced Python experience including REST API integration, web scraping for data sourcing, or building reusable reporting utility libraries
• Knowledge of the financial services industry, including fund administration or investment reporting concepts
• Experience with deployment automation and CI/CD pipelines for reporting solutions
• Demonstrated history of introducing new reporting technologies or frameworks that were successfully adopted within a business or enterprise environment
• Familiarity with Confluence space administration and structured documentation frameworks for engineering teams
• Experience establishing or improving Git branching and release management strategies within a development team
