A Day in the Life

As a QA/QC Specialist - FTIR, you’ll be responsible for focusing on the technical integrity of our emissions monitoring data. This position is responsible for the independent review and quality control of in-field FTIR-based stack testing projects. You will act as a technical bridge, ensuring that complex analytical data is validated against established methodologies and translated into comprehensive reporting packages.

The compensation range for this role is $23.50hr to $26.50hr.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Review and QC in-field FTIR-based stack testing projects, ensuring all data meets regulatory and internal standards
  • Follow established testing methods, procedures, and processes to support consistent and reliable data validation and reporting
  • Independently perform FTIR sample reprocessing and develop and validate calibrations to ensure the highest data quality
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of analytical testing data and equipment; write up suggested next steps and corrective actions for field teams
  • Manage the full data lifecycle from recording and interpreting complex data and field notes to writing comprehensive technical reports
  • Communicate critical process details, findings, and data anomalies to supervisors, project managers, and team members to ensure project success
  • Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and participate in training to stay current with FTIR technology and regulatory shifts
  • Perform in-field FTIR-based stack testing according to established procedures as needed
  • Set up, operate, and maintain analytical testing equipment
  • Participate in training for career development, safety and maintaining required certifications

Your Expertise and Skills

  • Expertise with data acquisition and processing software relevant to FTIR analysis is required
  • 0-3 years of professional experience in an analytical laboratory setting
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, chemistry preferred
  • Capability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical certification and OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Evaluation
  • Flexibility is a must as the position may require weekend travel or work for a few projects during the year
  • Capacity for overnight and local travel for multi-weekday projects

  • Ability to work in outdoor industrial settings, including climbing to and working on elevated platforms (50ft - 300ft) in accordance with OSHA/ANSI and other applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort, including lifting heavy materials up to 50 pounds
  • Often works outdoors and may be exposed to hot and cold environments and extreme weather conditions, including sunlit, rainy and windy conditions
  • Sitting, standing, and walking
