Job Description

Ensure the integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial records and the General Ledger through timely reconciliations, journal processing, suspense account management, financial controls monitoring, and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

  • Perform daily review, investigation and clearance of suspense and transit accounts, ensuring aged items are promptly resolved and escalated where necessary.
  • Prepare monthly General Ledger reconciliations and maintain adequate supporting documentation for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare, validate and process month end and ad hoc journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. Monitor balance sheet and income statement movements and investigate unusual variances.
  • Reconcile VAT, Withholding Tax and other statutory control accounts and support tax reporting processes. Perform reconciliation and confirmation of intercompany balances and prepare monthly intercompany returns.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, process additions, disposals and transfers, and prepare monthly depreciation journals.
  • Ensure accounting procedure manuals, reconciliation procedures and control documentation are current and updated for process changes. Monitor compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare management reports and analysis relating to reconciliations, suspense accounts and control exceptions.
  • Perform any other financial control duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Partially or fully qualified ACCA or CPA certification will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in financial accounting, reconciliations, or financial controls.
  • Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and banking operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI and SQL will be an added advantage.
  • Prior exposure to SAP and Finacle systems is desirable.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Analytical mind with strong orientation to financial analysis.
