About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical Report Fraud Evaluator to join our Economic Crime Team. This is a vital role at the heart of our response to fraud, ensuring reports are assessed efficiently, victims are supported, and investigations are progressed effectively.

You will act as a key link between national fraud reporting (Report Fraud / Action Fraud systems) and policing response, working to safeguard vulnerable victims and support fraud investigations across Merseyside.

Key Responsibilities

As a Report Fraud Evaluator, you will:

• Assess and process fraud referrals, creating and managing case records within police systems
• Analyse information, intelligence, and documentation to identify lines of enquiry and investigative opportunities
• Conduct early financial enquiries with banks to identify fraudulent activity and enable asset recovery
• Develop and assign investigation plans to appropriate teams and monitor progress
• Prioritise cases involving vulnerable victims, ensuring swift safeguarding actions
• Act as a key point of contact for victims, supporting delivery of the Victim Charter
• Provide specialist advice to officers and staff on fraud-related matters
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to outcomes tracking and reporting
• Deliver training and share knowledge on fraud trends and best practice
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including financial institutions and national agencies

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

We’re seeking someone who is:

• Analytical and detail-driven, with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound decisions
• Knowledgeable in fraud and financial crime, including relevant legislation such as the Fraud Act 2006 and Proceeds of Crime Act 2002
• Familiar with banking systems, money movement, and fraud typologies
• Experienced in working with vulnerable individuals and applying safeguarding principles
• A confident communicator, able to work with a wide range of stakeholders
• Highly organised, with strong IT, literacy, and record-keeping skills
• Able to work independently, manage competing demands, and remain resilient under pressure
• Committed to delivering excellent victim care and upholding professional standards
