Job Description

Role: Repairs Service Manager

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

Worker Type: Hybrid worker – there will be an expectation that the postholder will work 3 days per week in the office, at Harvey Road

Salary: Grade I - Starting Salary is £46,142 (Level one) rising to £49,282 (Level four)

Location: Harvey Road (NG8 3BB) will be the contracted base for this role, but the postholder will be expected to be able to travel to other sites across Nottingham, as needed.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Repairs Service Manager to join Nottingham City Council Housing Services within our Property team. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality maintenance and repairs services - across planned works, Mechanical & Electrical, responsive repairs or insourced programmes - ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused outcomes for our tenants.

You will lead and support a team of trade colleagues and contractors, driving performance, value for money and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Head of Service, you will manage resources effectively, monitor delivery against targets, and ensure works are completed on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

A visible presence on site, you will provide technical guidance, promote safe working practices and build strong, respectful relationships with colleagues, residents and stakeholders. You will champion a positive, inclusive culture that reflects our values, placing customer care, equality and diversity at the heart of everything we do.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Proven experience managing trade operatives and delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance services within a social housing environment.
  2. Track record of delivering continuous improvement within a diverse community setting within a social housing environment.
  3. Strong health & safety management experience, including risk mitigation in a similar role
  4. Ability to manage and motivate staff, fostering a culture of trust and respect
  5. Ability to manage complex projects and budgets effectively
  6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate at all levels
