Join a highly collaborative team focused on strengthening the effectiveness of our repair operations—especially our Material Review Board (MRB) processesand performance This is a critical opportunity toidentifyproduct repairability improvements, streamline repair workflows, and implement engineering solutions that improve quality, reduce cost, and accelerate cycle time for Ciena’s advanced optical and routing platforms.

How You Will Contribute

  • Serve as the single point of contact forallrepaired productsand processengineeringinitiatives
  • Partner closely with Ciena Engineeringteamsto advance repair enablement,first passevaluation (FPE)preparation, and continuous process improvements
  • Lead and manage MRB reduction initiativesthat enable cost reduction opportunities and reduce lead times
  • Coordinatecross functionallywith Repair Operations teams, external partners, and engineering groups to drive aligned execution
  • Define, manage, and report on key operational metrics while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Use data and analytics to surface systemic issues, recommend solutions, and implement corrective action plans
  • Champion engineeringdriven optimization across repair processes and materials flow

The Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in product, manufacturing, or process engineering withinhigh-tech, telecom, networking, or complex electronics environments
  • Strong knowledge of PCBA rework,componentleveltroubleshooting, and test methodologies
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Applied knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and serviceability principles
  • Handson experience with process optimization, Lean, Six Sigma, or 8D problemsolving
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across global,cross functionalteams
  • Ability to travel occasionally to repair depots, manufacturing sites, or supplier locations asrequired

Nice to Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline
  • Experience working within quality management frameworks such as TL 9001
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab)and CAD software
  • Prior experience supporting repair depots orreturnedmaterialsprocesses
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex engineering projects from concept to execution
  • Knowledge of telecommunications hardware manufacturing or service environments
