Repairman Kitchen-(260000DL)
Perform skilled tasks at the journeyman level. Tasks are performed primarily at school and facility locations throughout the district; however some tasks may be performed in a shop at a fixed site. Assignments are received orally and through work orders. Some positions assigned to this classification may work an evening shift on a regular or rotating basis. Supervision is exercised over one or more craft helpers. Work is reviewed through completed work orders, personal inspection by a superior, or approval of an administrator at the work site. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of skilled duties in the installation, modification, maintenance and repair of commercial and institutional food service equipment and related kitchen appliances and equipment such as ovens, ranges, steam tables, food carriers, food mixers, salad cutters, toasters, compactors, disposals, dishwashers, water heaters, exhaust fans, laundry washing machines and dryers
- Trouble-shoot, test, locate and diagnose problems and defects in equipment and appliances; repair and/or replace motors, bearings, shafts, seals, gaskets, belts and pulleys, gears and gear boxes, heating elements, switches, wiring, valves, thermostats, controls, and various other parts and components as necessary
- Check kitchen equipment and appliances for proper operation; perform preventative maintenance
- Review work orders, diagrams, schematics, and manufacturers manuals; procure parts and supplies
- Operate hand and power tools including volt, ohm and amperage meters, temperature and pressure gauges, soldering irons, and burning and welding equipment. Supervise one or more craft helpers and provide guidance and training
- Ensure that all safety precautions, regulations and equipment are utilized properly, and that complies with building, electrical and fire codes
- Keep records and prepare reports of work accomplished and materials used

- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Considerable and progressive working experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of a wide variety of commercial and institutional food service equipment and related kitchen equipment and appliances

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
Additional Information- Work requires sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and hand-eye-foot coordination to perform all essential tasks, including operating and using all tools and equipment, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds, reaching in front of body and overhead while holding heavy objects, walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time, climbing and working from ladders. Work is performed primarily inside school district building and facilities, and often requires working unusual hours or evening shifts. Employee is exposed to extreme temperatures, flammable or toxic chemical solvents, hazardous and explosive gases, damp and wet conditions. Employee is also exposed to potential electrical shock and other physical hazards when working on electrical appliances and equipment, operating tools and equipment and working in high places or cramped spaces. Employee is required to wear and use safety clothing and equipment and to comply with safety policies and procedures.
