Position: HVAC - Journeyman
Start Date: Immediately
Salary Range: $25-45/ hourly
Position: Full Time, Year Round

The Sutton Place Hotel at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is recruiting for the position of HVAC Journeyman. The HVAC Journeyman will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems throughout the hotel and associated facilities. The successful applicant must have strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a service-oriented mindset while working in a luxury, guest-focused environment.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Maintenance Team – responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Perform installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, air handling units, make-up air units, exhaust systems, fan coils, heat pumps, and associated controls.
• Conduct preventative maintenance as dictated by schedules and manufacturer requirements to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and longevity.
• Troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions, diagnose root causes, and complete timely and effective repairs to minimize downtime and guest impact.
• Monitor building automation systems and mechanical performance to identify issues, inefficiencies, or required adjustments.
• Ensure all HVAC systems operate in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.
• Respond to service requests and emergency situations including heating, cooling, ventilation, or mechanical failures within the building.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Team to plan repairs, system shutdowns, and upgrades while maintaining hotel operations.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, deficiencies, and parts used.
• Assist with energy management initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized mechanical rooms and work areas; ensure proper use and care of tools and equipment.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other maintenance associates as required.
• Maintain a safe working environment for all occupants and visitors to the property.
• Perform other duties within Engineering, as assigned or required.

Qualifications:
• Valid HVAC Journeyman Certification (Red Seal preferred).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician, preferably in a hotel, resort, or large commercial building.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations in a 24/7 operating environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer proficiency, including work order systems and basic Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures
• Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms
• Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
