Job Description

The R&M Specialist IV is responsible for leading and overseeing the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, calibration, and qualification of Wireline electronic tools and related equipment within the workshop and laboratory environment.

The role provides technical leadership to the R&M team, manages the repair and maintenance workflow, assesses team competencies, and ensures that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and technical standards.

A key focus of the position is to reduce repair cycle time, improve equipment reliability, and increase workshop efficiency through effective planning, implementation of operational control plans, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Wireline Electronic Tools Repair & Maintenance Workshop/Lab, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion of work.
  • Manage and prioritize repair orders and workflow to meet operational requirements and reduce repair cycle time.
  • Lead troubleshooting, failure investigations, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex and recurring tool failures.
  • Implement and monitor Operational Control Plans and continuous improvement initiatives to improve repair efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Perform and oversee repair, preventive/corrective maintenance, testing, calibration, modification, and qualification of Wireline electronic tools.
  • Assess team competencies, identify skill gaps, and provide technical guidance, coaching, and development support.
  • Monitor repair quality, cycle time, repeat failures, and team performance, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, repair records, test results, and equipment history.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company procedures, technical standards, quality requirements, and HSE policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tools, processes, documentation, and overall workshop efficiency.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Wireline electronic tools and associated repair and maintenance practices.
  • Strong electronic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of electronic components, circuits, test equipment, communication systems, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical/electronic schematics, technical drawings, manuals, and repair procedures.
  • Strong Root Cause Analysis, failure investigation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze repair data and identify trends affecting repair cycle time and equipment reliability.
  • Strong understanding of repair workflow, work-order management, and operational control plans.
  • Ability to establish priorities and effectively manage multiple repair activities.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to assess employee competencies and identify technical training and development needs.
  • Ability to provide technical coaching and guidance to R&M personnel.
  • Strong quality-control mindset and attention to detail.
  • Good judgment, decision-making, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify process bottlenecks and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ability to work safely with electrical/electronic equipment and within applicable hazardous-area and Oil & Gas requirements.
  • Awareness of relevant NDT/NDE, ATEX, hazardous materials, and applicable HSE requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively under operational pressure while maintaining safety, quality, and repair standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or a related technical field.
  • Bachelor of Technology (BTECH) or equivalent technical degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Wireline Electronic Tools Repair & Maintenance within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Wireline electronic tools laboratory/workshop.
  • Experience in electronic troubleshooting, repair, testing, calibration, and maintenance of Wireline tools.
  • Experience in leading technical investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is preferred.
  • Experience in workshop coordination, repair order management, or technical team leadership is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use relevant maintenance, work-order, and documentation systems.
