Job Description

The R&M Specialist II is responsible for the inspection, repair, maintenance, and testing of Weatherford’s wellbore cleaning tools, impact tools, and fishing tools to ensure operational readiness and reliability. This role is integral in supporting drilling operations by ensuring tools used for wellbore cleaning, impact applications, and fishing are fully functional, safe, and ready for deployment. Working in the Repair & Maintenance (R&M) facility, the specialist applies hands-on technical skills in mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to perform moderately complex tasks.

Operating with moderate supervision, the R&M Specialist II troubleshoots equipment, conducts preventive maintenance, calibrates tools, and documents all work to meet Weatherford’s quality, HSE, and operational standards. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives, safety compliance, and the development of junior technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, disassemble, repair, refurbish, assemble, and test wellbore cleaning tools, impact tools, and fishing tools in accordance with Weatherford’s technical manuals and established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on specialized tools, identifying faults and implementing corrective actions.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify tool dimensions, ensuring compliance with specifications and safe operating limits.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration of tools, ensuring readiness for field deployment.
  • Maintain detailed records of all inspections, repairs, work orders, time logs, and test results in company systems.
  • Participate in daily operations, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), ensuring adherence to Weatherford’s HSE, quality, and security standards.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized, clean, and safe, in compliance with company and industry best practices.
  • Support LEAN initiatives and continuous improvement programs to increase operational efficiency and tool reliability.
  • Report equipment failures and maintenance issues to R&M leadership and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to entry-level technicians, assisting with moderately complex tasks and small projects as needed.
  • Demonstrate accountability for safety, quality, compliance, ethical standards, and ongoing personal development.

Skills:

  • Hands-on knowledge of wellbore cleaning tools, impact tools, and fishing tools used in drilling operations.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools, precision measuring instruments, and workshop equipment for tool inspection and calibration.
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and wellbore cleaning and fishing tool functionality.
  • Familiarity with HSE regulations and safe work practices in an industrial or oilfield environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering schematics, and repair procedures.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to team-based and independent tasks.

Qualifications :

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (3-year Technical/Vocational qualification or equivalent).
  • 2–4 years of experience in Repair & Maintenance, Oil & Gas, or industrial equipment maintenance environments, with specific exposure to wellbore cleaning, impact tools, and fishing tools.
  • Hands-on experience inspecting, maintaining, and repairing specialized drilling tools used in wellbore operations.
  • Familiarity with workshop operations, preventive maintenance, and calibration procedures.
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
