What you’ll Do
The Repack Line Operator II is responsible for operating and overseeing automated grading and repack systems, including the Reemoon FRUSCAN/BDM sizer. This role ensures accurate grading, sizing, and product flow according to customer specifications and Quality Control (QC) standards. The operator maintains consistent production performance, minimizes downtime, and supports overall operational efficiency while adhering to Americold’s food safety and safety standards.
The operator prepares grower lots, performs pre shift inspections, completes system start up procedures, and maintains daily production flow. This position requires real time monitoring of system performance, troubleshooting issues, performing preventative maintenance, and implementing continuous improvements to optimize throughput.
Essential Functions:
• Operate the optical grader and Reemoon FRUSCAN/BDM systems to ensure accurate grading, sizing, and product routing.
• Monitor system performance through image review, fruit captures, and real time data to verify proper function of PCs, cameras, carriers, and fruit flow.
• Adjust between commodities and packout needs using saved HMI programs and making minor adjustments as required.
• Maintain proper system setup to support production efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Ensure automation at case packers and palletizers is operating at required rates.
• Work closely with QC to confirm grading accuracy and ensure product meets customer specifications.
• Direct product to correct outlets based on packout requirements
• Maintain quality service by enforcing organizational standards and food safety requirements.
• Ensure Health and Safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the shift.
• Coordinate shift activities, including staff management and training to meet current and future operational needs.
• Communicate regularly with Production Shift Supervisors, Maintenance Mechanics, and Reemoon technicians to meet production goals.
• Provide reports and updates to customers and internal teams to ensure proper quality control.
• Monitor, measure, and report on production processes, performance, and general issues
• Conduct pre shift inspections of the production floor and materials.
• Troubleshoot daily operational obstacles and execute preventative maintenance programs.
• Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
• Ensure company resources are used effectively to support best operating costs.
• Other duties as requested.
What Experience and Education You Need
• Proven experience managing automation in a production environment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret repack reports.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to direct the work of others.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills and foundational mechanical understanding.
What Could Set You Apart
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (preferred)
• 1 year work experience in warehouse environment (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Certifications and prior experience with optical grading systems for fruit production
• Understanding of production procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to learn new automated systems quickly.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit for long periods with frequent interruptions.
• Several hours per day of sitting, standing, bending, and reaching.
• Manual dexterity for typical office and equipment related tasks.
• Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential for task completion.
• May require travel by automobile or airplane.
• May require visiting facility operations in temperatures at or below freezing.
• May occasionally lift, carry, or move objects up to 20 pounds.
• Requires use of various electronic tools.
• Occasionally works evenings or weekends to meet objectives or attend meetings.
• Must be able to relate to others professionally and respond appropriately to feedback.
• Requires reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, and effective communication.
