The Rental Generator Engine Technician I is responsible for performing power generation equipment planned maintenance, basic corrective maintenance and basic start-up testing as assigned. In addition, this position is responsible for preparing written estimates for recommended corrective repairs noted during any service and submitting to Service Admin for submission to the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including the following.
- Transport parts and tools to worksites.
- Perform basic power generation equipment preventive maintenance as per prescribed written procedures.
- Prepare basic corrective maintenance recommended repair quotes.
- Research parts and service literature required to perform basic corrective maintenance.
- Utilize service manuals and electrical diagrams to diagnose and repair basic generator failures.
- Perform basic power generation corrective maintenance.
- Perform and assist technicians in diagnostic testing, pulling cable, carrying tools and other items.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required and respond to emergency calls.
- Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed by following all documentation procedures as instructed.
- Perform basic start-up testing of power generation equipment as per written procedures.
- Perform resistive load bank testing of power generation equipment.
- Provide and maintain personal hand tools and meters required to perform basic job functions.
- Other duties as required
Qualifications/Experience/Education/Skills
- One year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have some type of formal power generation or engine training from either a technical training program, OEM Equipment Training Course or Military Training.
- Exceptional customer service skills and problem solving in a fast-paced service environment.
- Excellent computer skills MS Office. Familiar with Wennsoft MobileTech and Kohler Site Tech a plus
- Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Must be a team player, detail-orientated, and flexible.
- Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen.
