Job Description

Meet the Team

Cisco is seeking a Renewals Specialist to join our Collaboration Renewals Sales team, supporting the Webex and Collaboration portfolio in Japan.

We are a global, high-performing organization focused on protecting and growing recurring revenue while helping customers realize sustained value from their Cisco investments. Our team works across Sales, Customer Success, Partners and specialist functions to identify renewal risk early, strengthen adoption and uncover migration and expansion opportunities.

Our culture is collaborative, inclusive and data-driven. We value accountability, agility and the thoughtful use of technology and AI to improve customer engagement and seller productivity.

Your Impact

As a Renewals Specialist, you will own a portfolio of renewal opportunities and be accountable for protecting recurring revenue, improving renewal outcomes and delivering a seamless customer experience.

You will engage customers well ahead of renewal, identify commercial and adoption risks, reinforce the value of their Cisco investment and uncover relevant migration, upsell and cross-sell opportunities.

Working with Account Managers, Collaboration Specialists, Customer Success Managers, Partners and technical teams, you will develop and execute clear renewal strategies. Success will be measured through renewal performance, forecast accuracy, sustained out-quarter engagement, risk reduction and growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Renewal Ownership: Manage assigned opportunities from early engagement through commercial close, with accountability for renewal rate, recurring revenue retention and customer experience.
  • Early Engagement: Engage customers and stakeholders multiple quarters ahead of renewal to understand priorities, adoption, competitive threats and commercial requirements.
  • Renewal Strategy: Develop actionable plans for priority opportunities, covering customer objectives, stakeholders, risks, milestones and next steps.
  • Risk Management: Identify renewal risks early and coordinate mitigation actions with Sales, Customer Success, Partners and specialist teams.
  • Value and Adoption: Connect adoption, utilization and business outcomes to renewal conversations and help address barriers to value realization.
  • Growth and Expansion: Identify appropriate migration, upsell and cross-sell opportunities across Webex Suite, AI-enabled capabilities, Cloud Calling and Cloud Contact Center.
  • Commercial Execution: Coordinate quoting, pricing, approvals, negotiations and contracting to deliver timely proposals and close opportunities.
  • Forecast Discipline: Maintain accurate opportunity data, risk assessments, customer interactions, next steps and forecasts in Salesforce.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align internal teams and Partners around a common renewal strategy, with clear owners and timelines.
  • Portfolio Prioritization: Manage a high-volume portfolio by prioritizing opportunities according to value, risk, customer impact and time to renewal.
  • Data and AI-Enabled Selling: Use customer, adoption and renewal insights, along with approved AI tools, to improve prioritization and seller productivity.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in renewals, account management, customer success, inside sales or another commercially focused customer-facing role.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume portfolio while progressing complex or strategically important opportunities.
  • Experience coordinating proposals, quotes, approvals and negotiations and closing renewal or sales opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM to manage opportunities and maintain forecast accuracy.
  • Native or business-level fluency in Japanese and professional proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in subscription, SaaS, recurring-revenue or technology renewals.
  • Knowledge of collaboration technologies, including cloud calling, meetings, messaging, contact center or AI-enabled solutions.
  • Experience working with channel partners and customer adoption or lifecycle-management practices.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong commercial ownership and customer-value orientation.
  • Proactive risk identification, escalation and resolution.
  • Effective communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across teams without formal authority.
  • Accurate, evidence-based forecasting and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance in-quarter execution with long-term renewal planning.
  • Adaptability, learning agility and a growth mindset.
