Job Description

  1. The Rendering Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, reliability, and performance of all rendering plant equipment and infrastructure. This position provides leadership to maintenance personnel, develops and executes preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manages contractors and capital projects, and ensures equipment reliability to support safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient rendering operations. The position maintains 24/7 accountability for the continuous operation of critical plant assets. This role supports operational, environmental, safety, quality, and cost objectives through effective maintenance planning and execution.
  2. Duties/Activities Required by Job
  3. Lead, develop, and supervise maintenance supervisors, mechanics, and contractors.
  4. Establish performance expectations and hold employees accountable for results.
  5. Provide coaching, training, and succession planning for maintenance personnel.
  6. Ensure maintenance work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies as well as ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  7. Develop and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  8. Analyze equipment failures and lead root cause investigations.
  9. Track and improve key maintenance metrics including Downtime, PM completion rates, Maintenance costs, & Equipment availability
  10. Maintain asset management systems and equipment records. Participate in audits and corrective action programs.
  11. Must be available for emergency call-outs and plant issues on a 24/7 basis. Frequently exposed to hot, wet, noisy, odorous, and outdoor conditions. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at elevated heights.
  12. Ensure proper lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and contractor safety programs are implemented and followed.
  13. Educations/Experience Requirements
  14. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred.
  15. Equivalent technical experience may be substituted for formal education.
  16. Minimum 3-5 years of maintenance leadership experience and minimum 7-10 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  17. Experience in rendering, food processing, poultry processing, feed manufacturing, or similar industrial operations preferred.
  18. Experience managing maintenance budgets and control maintenance expenditures.
