Job Title: Remote VDC Engineer Trainee (100% Work From Home)

Location: Remote from Latin America

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $3,500 USD/Monthly

Schedule: Day Shift, Monday – Friday

The Role

Our Client is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented VDC Engineer Trainee with a background in Architecture or Construction Digital Design Technology to join the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team. Reporting to the VDC Manager and collaborating closely with Operations and Engineering groups, this professional will create 3D progress zoning models using custom Navisworks and AutoCAD plugins. Acting as a central data link in the AI processing pipeline, the trainee will organize BIM design models, map metadata, process floorplans, and help build tools that optimize internal tracking workflows.

Key Responsibilities

3D Zoning & Spatial Modeling

  • Creates precise 3D progress zoning models using AutoCAD and Navisworks plugin utilities to mirror master project zone plans.
  • Imports, processes, and formats 2D/3D project floorplan drawings in AutoCAD for integration into internal web dashboards.
  • Works directly with the schedule analysis team to structure zone plans that align with project schedule breakouts and construction milestones.

Data Pipeline & Model Verification

  • Verifies organized BIM zones to ensure seamless import into internal analytics databases and validates that elements are accurately bounded.
  • Maps model metadata and sets up detailed system sets to optimize 3D design models for internal AI processing engines.
  • Assists VDC, Operations, and Engineering groups in testing and developing new utilities that streamline model organization efficiency.

Cross-Functional Communication & Technical Growth

  • Maintains real-time communication with VDC Manager, Team Leads, and cross-functional teams using Slack, Jira, and Zoom.
  • Continuously learns and masters proprietary applications, model organization tools, and cloud platforms utilized across data engineering pipelines.

Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Construction Management, Digital Design Technology, or a related field.
  • BIM & CAD Software Proficiency: Practical experience using BIM design and analysis tools, specifically Revit and AutoCAD detailing software.
  • Model Management Capabilities: Hands-on training or experience with Navisworks coordination, model management, and spatial navigation tools.
  • Data & Spreadsheet Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for dataset organization, file tracking, and inventorying.
  • Fluent English Communication: Clear and precise written and spoken English skills to collaborate effectively with US engineering teams.
  • Schedule Alignment: Full availability to work standard full-time day-shift hours.
  • Remote Infrastructure: Dedicated home office workspace, updated high-performance computer setup, HD webcam, headset, and high-speed primary internet.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with team messaging and productivity platforms such as Slack.
  • Experience tracking tasks, bugs, and project workflows within Jira or similar ticketing tools.
  • Basic familiarity with cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS or Google Cloud Platform / GCP).
