Remote Tax Office Manager

Position Overview

Polished Talent Group is seeking experienced tax professionals to oversee remote tax preparation operations for the upcoming tax season. This is a remote, commission-based independent contractor position designed for individuals who have an active IRS Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) or are eligible and willing to apply for and obtain one before beginning applicable electronic filing activities. The Tax Office Manager will support tax preparation operations, maintain professional and compliance standards, assist with client service, and may oversee a team of tax preparers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day remote tax preparation operations
• Prepare and/or review individual federal and state income tax returns
• Support tax preparers with workflow and operational questions
• Monitor return accuracy, documentation, and completion
• Maintain secure and confidential taxpayer information
• Follow applicable IRS due diligence and electronic filing requirements
• Communicate professionally with clients and tax preparers
• Maintain organized client and tax preparation records
• Assist with developing and maintaining client relationships
• Participate in required operational and compliance training
• Ensure applicable filing deadlines and internal procedures are followed

Qualified candidates should have:

• An active EFIN or the ability to apply for and obtain IRS approval
• A valid PTIN when personally preparing federal tax returns for compensation
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Reliable computer and internet access
• Ability to protect confidential taxpayer information
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism
• Tax preparation, tax office, or team leadership experience preferred

This position is fully remote and structured as an independent contractor engagement. Contractors are responsible for managing their schedules while meeting applicable client service expectations, filing deadlines, compliance requirements, and operational responsibilities.

This is a commission-based independent contractor position. There is no guaranteed hourly wage or salary. Compensation is based on completed tax preparation services and the applicable commission structure. Actual earnings vary based on production, client volume, completed returns, and other applicable factors. Specific compensation terms will be provided to qualified candidates before acceptance of the contractor agreement.

This posting is for an active independent contractor tax services role. Applicants are not required to purchase a franchise or pay a fee to submit an application. EFIN approval is determined by the IRS and is not guaranteed by Polished Talent Group. Applicants who do not currently have an EFIN must obtain applicable IRS approval before performing activities that require an EFIN. Tax Operations Management

• Manage daily operations of your tax business
• Oversee client workflow and tax season processes

• Monitor submitted returns and funded return activity
• Maintain organization and communication with your team and clients

Compliance & Quality Standards

• Follow IRS guidelines, due diligence requirements, and professional standards
• Promote accurate and ethical tax preparation practices
• Maintain proper client records and documentation
• Protect confidential taxpayer information and follow security procedures
• Stay informed on tax updates, training requirements, and industry changes
