Senior Backend Software Engineer — Go

Remote, Americas | $180-230K base + equity

We’re working with a well-funded early-stage enterprise identity startup reimagining how companies manage identity, access, and security from the ground up. The founders previously built and exited an enterprise infrastructure company to Apple, and they are now building a new identity platform with a strong emphasis on product quality, security, and developer experience.

This is a senior-level IC role for a backend engineer who writes strong production Go, enjoys building from scratch, and can operate with high autonomy on a small, high-bar engineering team.

What you’ll do

You’ll design and build secure, scalable backend services for an enterprise identity platform from the ground up. This includes owning API design across web and service-to-service boundaries, modeling database schemas, designing system architecture, and building distributed systems with enterprise-scale reliability requirements.

You’ll work closely with product and design from the earliest stages, helping shape what gets built rather than simply implementing predefined requirements. You’ll also contribute to engineering practices, technical culture, and hiring as an early team member.

What we’re looking for

Strong fit for someone with:

• 4+ years writing production Go in backend systems
• Experience building and operating distributed backend systems in production
• Strong API design and SQL/database schema design experience, ideally Postgres
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tooling such as metrics, alerting, and tracing
• Ability to work independently in an early-stage startup environment
• High bar for security, reliability, code quality, and clear technical design
• Strong communication skills and low ego; someone collaborative, thoughtful, and easy to work with

Bonus points for experience in identity/access management, security, fintech, infrastructure, or other high-stakes product environments.

• Salary: $180K–$230K base + competitive equity

• Internal title is “Software Engineer”; this is a senior-level IC role with high ownership.
