Job Title: Remote Senior Software Engineer (100% Work From Home)

Location: Remote from Latin America Position Type: Full-time Salary $6,000 USD/month paid via bank transfer / ACH Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM MST

The Role


Our Client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to take full ownership of the core platform architecture and the critical systems that clinics rely on daily. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role where the successful candidate will not just write code, but shape the technical foundation of a healthcare platform. The role involves architecting scalable systems, managing complex API integrations, and ensuring the highest standards of HIPAA compliance and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & System Design

  • Architects and evolves core EHR features, including patient records, scheduling logic, and charting workflows.

  • Defines and enforces engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across the codebase.

  • Makes critical "build vs. buy" decisions and manages technical tradeoffs between performance and speed.

  • Ensures the platform remains scalable, maintainable, and resilient as the user base grows.

Integrations & Infrastructure

  • Designs and maintains clean, versioned REST APIs and owns third-party integrations (e.g., GoHighLevel, payment processors).

  • Owns system performance and reliability, targeting 99.9%+ uptime for core services.

  • Manages CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and proactive monitoring/alerting systems.

  • Leads incident response and root cause analysis for production issues.

Security, Compliance & Quality

  • Designs all systems with HIPAA compliance by default, ensuring secure data handling of sensitive PHI.

  • Defines the overall testing strategy (Unit, Integration, E2E) to maintain a high bar for code quality.

  • Partners cross-functionally with support and QA teams to triage and resolve systemic issues.

  • Documents architecture and decisions to support long-term scalability and team growth.

Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies

Required

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience in production environments.

  • Backend Expertise: Strong proficiency in PHP (Laravel) and/or Python

  • Data Management: Extensive experience with MySQL/SQL and designing scalable database schemas.

  • API Mastery: Proven track record of building and maintaining robust REST APIs and complex third-party integrations.

  • Architecture: Experience designing, scaling, and owning high-traffic production systems end-to-end.

  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills, capable of translating ambiguous business needs into structured technical solutions.

Preferred

  • Experience with Healthcare or EHR systems and HIPAA regulations.

  • Familiarity with React or other modern frontend frameworks.

  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor).

  • Prior experience in early-stage, fast-moving startup environments.

What Success Looks Like

  • Reliability: Maintaining 99.9%+ uptime with fast, consistent API response times.

  • Execution: Consistently shipping features on a weekly or bi-weekly cadence.

  • Security: Zero security incidents related to sensitive healthcare data (PHI).

  • Leadership: Improving engineering quality over time through cleaner architecture and fewer regressions.
