Our Client is a lean, senior-heavy engineering team currently executing a high-stakes architectural migration from a monolith to a microservices ecosystem. To maintain high velocity without sacrificing system integrity, they are aggressively adopting AI-augmented development workflows. Our Client operates with a culture of technical excellence, prioritizing automated guardrails and long-term maintainability over short-term output.
The Role
Our Client is seeking a pragmatic Senior Developer Experience (DevEx) / Platform Engineer to serve as the internal "AI Governance" champion. In this unique role, the primary customers are the internal engineering team rather than end-users. Instead of building product features, the successful candidate will build the automated infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-driven testing frameworks that empower senior engineers to use tools like Cursor safely and effectively. The ultimate goal is to automate boilerplate, eliminate friction, and ensure that AI-generated code meets strict architectural standards before reaching human review.
Key Responsibilities
AI Governance & Tooling
Collaborates with the Tech Lead to write and enforce strict architectural rules (e.g., .cursorrules) to dictate how AI assistants interact with the codebases.
Integrates AI review tools into the pull request process to summarize changes, identify syntax errors, and enforce coding standards.
Continuously evaluates new AI developer tools, APIs, and CLI utilities to remove operational bottlenecks.
Platform & Infrastructure Automation
Automates microservices scaffolding by building scripts to instantly spin up boilerplate for new services (Dockerfiles, routing, CI/CD configs, DTOs).
Implements aggressive, automated quality gates in deployment pipelines, including linting, type-checking, and mutation testing.
Optimizes developer velocity by identifying and eliminating friction points in the day-to-day engineering experience.
Testing & Maintainability
Serves as a fierce advocate for automated testing, ensuring that AI-generated code is verified by robust safety nets.
Prioritizes long-term system health and architectural consistency across the transitioning microservices landscape.
Partners with senior engineers to introduce AI as a technical "power-up" that respects existing architectural patterns.
Qualifications, Skills and Key Competencies
Required Qualifications
Infrastructure Expertise: Deep experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Backend Architecture with proficiency in Docker, GCP, and GitHub Actions
Core Stack Knowledge: Strong background in Node.js and microservices architectures.
AI Automation: A track record of scripting with LLM APIs or CLI tools to automate infrastructure, generate documentation, or analyze codebases.
Testing Advocacy: Expert understanding of automated testing methodologies and CI/CD security.
Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence (EQ) and diplomacy; ability to work effectively with protective, highly experienced senior engineers.
Maintainability Mindset: A strong focus on long-term system health and high-quality, clean code.
