Job Title: Remote Controller/Accounting Manager (100% Work From Home)

Location: Remote from Latin America

Position Type: Full-time

Salary Dependent on experience.

Schedule: 8 hours/day, Monday through Friday, aligned with U.S. business hours

Our Clients represent high-growth U.S. middle-market businesses, private equity portfolio companies, and expanding organizations across construction, real estate, investment capital, logistics, and professional services. Navigating multi-entity reporting, rapid scaling, or initial operational structuring, they rely on seasoned financial leaders to serve as their first dedicated Controller or Accounting Manager. Through HireLatam's talent network, qualified candidates are matched directly with vetted partner companies to establish robust internal controls, maintain pristine US GAAP compliance, and guide executive decision-making.

The Role
Our Clients are seeking a disciplined, detail-oriented Controller / Accounting Manager to take full ownership of their accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance infrastructure. Reporting directly to U.S.-based business owners, CEOs, or CFOs, this leader will drive month-end and year-end closes, manage cash flow, and oversee accounts payable and receivable (AP/AR). Operating full-time during core U.S. business hours, this professional balances high-level financial strategy and forecasting with hands-on general ledger supervision and software administration.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & US GAAP Accounting Management

  • Owns the entire month-end and year-end close process, producing accurate balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports in compliance with US GAAP.

  • Establishes and maintains internal accounting controls, standardized charts of accounts, and audit-ready accounting policies across all entities.

  • Oversees bank reconciliations, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger accuracy across core platforms (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or similar).

Cash Flow Management, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Monitors daily cash flow, prepares liquidity projections, and manages working capital to support operational stability and strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborates with corporate leadership to build annual budgets, variance analyses, and dynamic financial models.

  • Coordinates with external CPAs, tax advisors, and auditors to ensure smooth tax preparation, statutory compliance, and audit readiness.

Operational Leadership & Systems Supervision

  • Directs and mentors junior bookkeeping, payroll, and AP/AR staff where applicable, enforcing workflow discipline and data integrity.

  • Identifies root causes of reporting discrepancies, streamlining cross-functional handoffs between operational teams and accounting.

  • Advanced utilization of financial modeling spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) to deliver ad-hoc strategic analysis for executive reviews.

Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies

Required Qualifications

  • Progressive Accounting Experience: 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including at least 1–2 years operating in a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Finance Lead capacity.

  • US GAAP Expertise: Solid working knowledge and practical application of US GAAP principles, ideally gained through experience with U.S. companies or international clients.

  • Accounting System & Excel Fluency: Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or comparable ERP systems, alongside expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

  • Fluent English Communication: Advanced written and verbal English skills to report directly to U.S. founders, CFOs, and executive stakeholders.

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related quantitative field.

  • Schedule Alignment: Full availability to work full-time hours aligned with core U.S. business time zones.

  • Remote Setup: Dedicated quiet home office, personal computer, professional headset, and high-speed, reliable internet.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or equivalent professional certification.

  • Industry experience in construction, real estate development, private equity/capital, logistics, or professional services.

  • Experience managing small remote accounting teams, bookkeepers, or AP/AR specialists.

Benefits
  • Competitive USD Compensation: Market-competitive pay set per client assignment and paid directly in USD.

  • Direct Executive Exposure: Work directly with growing U.S. leadership teams, founders, and CFOs.

  • High-Impact Leadership Roles: Build and optimize core financial infrastructure for expanding companies.
