Job Description

We have exciting 2-year maximum term opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented Remediation Analyst to join Downer's Business Services Centre Compliance Assurance team

This role is well suited to an analytical and solutions-focused professional who thrives in a complex payroll environment and is passionate about delivering accurate, compliant, and employee-focused remediation outcomes.

As part of a high-profile Wage Type Review Project, you will work closely with the Project Manager, Tax and Compliance Specialist, Project Analysts, Payroll, HR Systems, Industrial Relations, and Remediation teams to assess payroll impacts, analyse employee data, support remediation activities, and ensure accurate and sustainable compliance outcomes across Downer's People Services environment.

This role can be based in North Ryde, Sydney or Collins Street, Melbourne.

About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Support remediation activities arising from the Wage Type Review project, including underpayment and overpayment assessments
  • Analyse payroll data, employee records, payment history, leave accruals, and payroll calculations to support remediation outcomes
  • Prepare and maintain remediation case documentation, working papers, evidence repositories, and calculation files
  • Support remediation case progression across analysis, quantification, validation, communication, and compensation activities
  • Collaborate with Payroll, HR Systems, Industrial Relations, Finance, and operational stakeholders to gather and validate information
  • Perform reconciliations, quality reviews, peer validation, and data analysis to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Identify and escalate payroll risks, control gaps, calculation issues, and employee impact concerns
  • Support stakeholder validation activities through clear analysis, documentation, and reporting
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen payroll compliance, controls, and remediation practices
  • Maintain accurate, traceable, and audit-ready records throughout the remediation lifecycle

This is a highly visible role where you will play a key part in delivering fair and accurate employee outcomes while supporting a strategically important payroll compliance initiative.

You bring:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience managing or supporting payroll remediation, payroll compliance, or payroll analysis activities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex payroll data, identify employee impacts, and document findings clearly
  • A commitment to quality, accuracy, and audit-ready documentation

You will also have:

  • Experience in payroll remediation, payroll analysis, payroll compliance, payroll operations, HR systems, finance, risk, audit, or a related field
  • Experience performing payroll calculations, reconciliations, data analysis, and validation activities
  • Knowledge of payroll processes, employment obligations, industrial instruments, leave accruals, tax, superannuation, and compliance requirements
  • Experience investigating underpayments, overpayments, payroll issues, and employee payment impacts
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capability
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle Express HR, Spinifex, ServiceNow, or similar payroll and case management systems (desirable)
  • Previous experience within a shared services environment (highly regarded)
  • Degree qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Business, Payroll, Human Resources, Risk, Audit, Law, or a related discipline (preferred but not essential)

You are known for your analytical mindset, attention to detail, collaborative approach, and ability to deliver accurate outcomes in complex and fast-paced environments.
