Job Description

Our client is a Dubai-based technology company operating in the fintech sector, with an active footprint in Africa through its mobile money and payments operations in Guinea. The organisation is focused on delivering innovative digital financial solutions that enhance accessibility, efficiency, and financial inclusion across emerging markets.

Role Purpose

Senior technology leader responsible for day-to-day engineering execution, delivery governance, and production stability across a high-transaction fintech platform and a B2B ordering/trade automation platform. Acts as Acting CTO in the CTO’s absence.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering background with high-transaction platform delivery exposure.
  • Strong agile execution (Scrum/Kanban) with disciplined sprint/release hygiene.
  • Backend depth (Java/JVM or comparable), API-first design, database fundamentals, migrations.
  • Practical security/auth experience (token auth, RBAC, OAuth-style flows) aligned to fintech expectations.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD, cloud deployment patterns, infrastructure-as-code, containers.
  • Strong observability mindset (metrics, dashboards, logging) and production readiness.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Payments/fintech exposure.
  • Experience working in Africa.
  • French (preferred, not mandatory) alongside English.

Responsibilities

Delivery Leadership (Run the Engine)

  • Own execution cadence with internal teams and external partners: sprint rhythm, release planning, prioritization, predictability.
  • Translate product roadmaps into clear technical backlogs and acceptance criteria (including UX/UI readiness).
  • Drive third-party integrations with clean API contracts and controlled rollout plans.
  • Maintain vendor governance: delivery scorecards, escalation paths, SLA/penalty tracking.

Architecture, Quality & Engineering Discipline

  • Enforce scalable, reliable, secure architecture without over-engineering.
  • Uphold SDLC governance: code reviews, testing standards, release gates, versioning, rollback readiness.
  • Own secure engineering practices (auth patterns, audit logs, secrets handling, encryption basics).

Production Reliability, Security & Continuity

  • Establish monitoring, alerting, incident management, root-cause analysis, and post-incident improvements.
  • Maintain business continuity fundamentals: backups, disaster recovery readiness, runbooks.

Team Building & Capability

  • Hire, mentor, and scale engineering capability; build accountability and documentation culture.
  • Strengthen coordination between engineering, operations, compliance, and commercial teams.

Acting CTO Responsibilities

  • Represent technology function in senior forums and external technical discussions.
  • Make timely decisions on releases, incident response, vendor escalation, technical prioritization.
  • Maintain leadership reporting on delivery status and stability/security risks.
  • Escalate only matters beyond delegated authority.
