About the Role
MSS Security is seeking a confident and capable Full time Reliever, Security Officer to join our Defence operations at a secured base in Townsville. This critical role involves protecting Defence personnel, assets, and infrastructure through proactive patrols, access control, and a strong on-site presence.

On a Defence site, those qualities are not just desirable, they are critical. Your presence, judgement, and integrity directly contribute to Australia’s national security.
Key Duties
Access Control – Monitor entry and exit points to ensure only authorised personnel are permitted on site
Foot Patrols – Conduct regular patrols to maintain situational awareness and deter potential threats
Stakeholder Liaison – Build rapport with Defence personnel, contractors, and visitors while maintaining a strong security presence
Incident Response – React promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or suspicious behaviour
Compliance Monitoring – Ensure site protocols and Defence security procedures are followed at all times
Reporting & Documentation – Accurately record incidents, shift activities, and observations in line with site requirements
What you will need to be considered for the role -
Australian Citizenship – required for Defence security clearance eligibility
Current QLD Security License
Current QLD Drivers License
Baseline Clearance or willingness to obtain one
Excellent communication skills and confidence in engaging with Defence personnel and stakeholders
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
Strong integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
