The Reliability Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and executing the maintenance and reliability strategy for the facility to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring optimal equipment uptime and performance. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in reliability practices, asset management, and maintenance planning, while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.

Essential Functions

  • __Lead Plant Maintenance and Utilities Activities:__• Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all maintenance and utilities activities within the plant, ensuring safety, high equipment availability, and compliance with environmental regulations.• Plan and execute plant turnarounds and scheduled shutdowns. Coordinate resources, timelines, and contractors to ensure efficient and safe execution with minimal disruption.• Maintain accurate equipment history and maintenance records in SAP. Monitor work orders, backlog, and KPIs to continuously improve planning and execution.• Maintenance of ISO 9001:2008 certifications for the business by complying with processes, procedures and instructions for all activities in which this role participates• Food Safety Responsibility: Ensure Maintenance employees follow GMPs and communicate with operations on the safe production of Propylene Glycol USP.
  • __Implement Reliability Best Practices:__• Develop and implement reliability centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies to enhance the performance and longevity of critical chemical processing equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, reactors, and instrumentation systems• Manage the natural gas transmission pipeline operation.
  • __Ensure Regulatory Compliance:__• Ensure all maintenance practices align with OSHA, EPA, PSM (Process Safety Management), and other applicable industry regulations. Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections.
  • __Manage and Develop Maintenance Team:__• Supervise a diverse team of maintenance, utilities and reliability employees. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to build a high-performing team aligned with plant safety and company goals.
  • __Develop Root Cause Analysis (RCA):__• Lead structured root cause investigations on equipment failures, safety incidents, and process interruptions. Implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate recurrence.
  • __Budget Management and Cost Optimization:__• Develop and manage the maintenance and reliability budget. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety or equipment performance.
  • __Collaborate Cross-functionally:__• Work closely with production, engineering, HSE and capital projects teams to align maintenance activities with operational needs and long-term plant objectives.
  • __Lead Contractor and Vendor Management:__• Evaluate, select, and manage contractors and external service providers to ensure quality, safety, and value. Ensure compliance with plant entry and safety requirements.
  • __Other duties as assigned.__

Experience Qualifications

  • Required 15+ years in maintenance and/or operations in the oil and gas, refining, or chemical industries


Skills and Abilities

  • Leadership and effective people management skills. Experience managing an hourly union workforce preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to master mechanical equipment, manufacturing and chemical process equipment, product and process knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and optimize processes
  • Understanding engineering principles and how to apply methods to existing equipment
  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge of corrosion damage mechanisms and a basic demonstrated knowledge of materials
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
  • Experience/knowledge troubleshooting mechanical equipment, to include leading Root Cause Failure Analysis and driving corrective/preventative actions from it
  • Ability to work in an on-call capacity for plant emergencies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage capital projects from inception to implementation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) necessary; SAP a plus.
  • Familiar with ASME codes
  • Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to foster effective relationships with Production and other functional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to act decisively and deliver results
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing safety programs
  • Strong communication skills.


Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Able to travel around site- climb stairs and/or ladders, walk site. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
