Reliability Engineer

LOCATION: Sault Ste Marie - Ontario - Canada

DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE

Role

As the Reliability Engineer in the Maintenance Engineering department, you will enhance asset availability, reliability, and cost efficiency by optimizing maintenance strategies, improving work quality, and reducing maintenance workload. You will identify and promote best practices, monitor key maintenance indicators, and ensure their effective implementation. The role includes analyzing and resolving routine and complex issues across mills as needed, as well as supporting sound investment decisions by contributing to the investment evaluation process.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the cataloguing, updating and sharing of technical maintenance documentation (technical specifications, procedures and operational processes).
  • Sets procedures and standards by identifying best practices and defining maintenance key variables and technical standards, ensuring their correct sharing and implementation.
  • Improves assets availability, reliability, and cost by supporting/leading the process of specification, procurement and installation of new assets or upgrades/modifications with Engineering department and the definition of the life cycle for the asset. Gathers and analyzes equipment data and history records to identify improvement opportunities, acting as a formal referent for the specific technology/process. Participates in cause-failure analysis and the definition/implementation of solutions.
  • Proposes and optimizes maintenance strategies by: supporting criticality of equipment analysis and comparison; analyzing and comparing the preventive maintenance activities results with the equipment data and history; contributing from a technical perspective in the definition/optimization of stock and spare parts levels.
  • Improves the quality of work performed by performing random audits of executions of preventive and corrective activities, and systematic evaluation of completed tasks and reworks
  • Reduces maintenance workload by: proposing and implementing projects or methods to continuously develop/improve maintenance activities; supporting the systematic evaluation of maintenance history and prevention methods; supporting BMGs in evaluating and upgrading individual preventive maintenance task list and work orders for the specific process/technology.
  • Contributes from a technical perspective in the analysis and solution of highly complex issues in the area/s of specialty, acting as a formal referent in the mill/s under charge and among other mills, whenever required
  • Participates in the homologation process of new supplies and services
  • Participates in the planning of plant/system investments for the area/process under their responsibility.
  • Analyzes and uses the Maintenance information systems, in order to support the decision-making process
  • Defines procedures and fosters maintenance program execution to minimize/optimize the use of required energy, and promotes improvement actions in general in order to reduce resources consumption waste.
  • Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
  • Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to their area.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in similar Maintenance Reliability role.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in steel manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Applicant must be able to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Applicant must be familiar with manufacturing environment safety procedures.
  • Previous experience with SAP considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with Project Management considered an asset.

Schedule & Working Conditions:

  • 8hr Days – with flexibility based on business needs.
  • On-call rotation.
  • Work is performed in a steel manufacturing mill.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $69,000.00 – $129,000.00 annually.

Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity and market considerations.
