The Release Train Engineer is the servant leader and primary coach for the Agile Release Train, accountable for enabling effective delivery across the OM GRiD delivery area. The role coordinates delivery events and processes, supports PI execution, manages delivery risks and dependencies, communicates PI health to stakeholders, and drives continuous improvement across teams.
The RTE plays a key role in enabling flow, alignment, delivery predictability, and execution of the digital roadmap across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
Enable effective end-to-end delivery across the value chain by supporting flow, alignment, and execution across multiple Agile teams.
Facilitate PI Planning and related ART-level ceremonies to support delivery alignment, transparency, and commitment tracking.
Partner with Business Owners, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Solution Management, and delivery teams to support demand management, sequencing, and planning across a 2–3 PI roadmap.
Support backlog visibility, PI readiness, and feature-to-roadmap alignment without owning business prioritisation.
Track and report on PI health, delivery predictability, velocity, quality, and delivery commitments to support stakeholder decision-making and continuous improvement.
Identify, track, and escalate delivery risks, issues, impediments, and dependencies, ensuring mitigation actions and due dates are visible and actively managed.
Optimise delivery flow by removing barriers, improving coordination across teams, and supporting a consistent delivery cadence.
Promote Agile, SAFe, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices across the portfolio.
Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile teams to improve Agile maturity, delivery discipline, and ways of working.
Facilitate technical and cross-functional discussions to support delivery alignment across architecture, engineering, quality, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
Support release governance, delivery readiness, and compliance with organisational delivery standards and guardrails.
Build capability across teams through coaching, knowledge sharing, tooling, templates, and consistent reporting practices.
Foster a culture of ownership where teams take accountability for features from delivery through to operational support.
Contribute to strategic execution by aligning delivery area objectives with portfolio and organisational goals.
10+ years’ experience in complex technology delivery, programme, portfolio, or enterprise Agile environments.
Proven experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and facilitating PI Planning or large-scale delivery planning events.
Strong experience working within Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or similar scaled delivery models.
Demonstrated experience managing risks, dependencies, delivery commitments, and stakeholder expectations in complex environments.
Experience using delivery and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
Certifications
SAFe RTE or SAFe certification preferred.
SPC, Agile PM, PMP, or PRINCE2 Agile advantageous.

Strong facilitation skills across senior stakeholders, product teams, engineering teams, and delivery teams.

Strong coaching mindset with the ability to improve Agile maturity and team effectiveness.
