Role Purpose (Why This Role Exists):
As a Relationship Manager at Flapkap, you are responsible for developing and managing relationships with small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to drive financing opportunities and portfolio growth. Your mission is to understand clients' funding needs, provide tailored lending solutions, and guide customers through the entire sales cycle—from initial engagement to funding and ongoing relationship management.
You will leverage your professional network, referral channels, and market presence to generate business opportunities while building long-term partnerships that contribute to sustainable portfolio growth and customer retention.
Core Responsibilities
Relationship Building & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with SME owners, founders, finance managers, and key decision-makers.
- Leverage personal and professional networks to generate new business opportunities and referrals.
- Build strategic partnerships with business communities, industry associations, consultants, and other referral sources.
- Represent the company at networking events, industry gatherings, and client meetings to increase market visibility and generate opportunities.
Consultative Sales & Needs Assessment
- Meet with prospective and existing clients to understand their financing needs, growth objectives, and business challenges.
- Assess client suitability against the company's lending criteria and eligibility requirements.
- Recommend appropriate financing solutions based on customer needs and business circumstances.
- Educate clients on available lending products, funding processes, and value propositions.
Full-Cycle Opportunity Management
- Manage opportunities throughout the entire sales cycle, from initial engagement and qualification to application submission, negotiation, approval, and funding.
- Guide clients through the application process and ensure timely collection of required documentation.
- Coordinate closely with credit, risk, and operations teams to facilitate efficient deal processing.
- Follow up proactively to address client concerns, manage expectations, and maximize conversion rates.
Portfolio Management & Client Retention
- Maintain ongoing relationships with funded clients to identify additional financing opportunities and strengthen customer loyalty.
- Monitor client satisfaction and proactively address issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Generate repeat business and referrals from existing clients and partners.
CRM & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, opportunities, and portfolio activity within the CRM system.
- Track and report key performance metrics including pipeline value, funded deals, referral activity, and revenue generation.
- Ensure all customer and opportunity information is properly documented and updated.
Market Intelligence
- Stay informed about SME financing trends, competitor offerings, and market developments.
- Share customer insights and market feedback with internal stakeholders to support business growth and product development.
Requirements
2–3 years of experience in relationship management, business development, sales, commercial banking, SME banking, fintech, lending, or financial services.
Proven track record of achieving revenue, funding, or portfolio growth targets.
Experience managing the full sales cycle from opportunity generation through deal closure.
Strong network within the SME ecosystem and demonstrated ability to generate business through referrals and relationship-building activities.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong understanding of SME financing products, lending processes, and business financial fundamentals.
Ability to build credibility and establish long-term relationships with business owners and senior decision-makers.
Experience using CRM systems such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, or similar platforms.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
