Job Description

This position is responsible for leading revenue generation through the pursuit of new corporate partnerships that provide shared value for both parties. This role will focus on building a pipeline of new qualified corporate prospects that have the ability to, and interest in, investing in United Way programs and initiatives to ultimately support our organizational purpose to ensure no one in our community is left behind. Through identification, cultivation, solicitation and effective stewardship, this role will help consistently qualify corporate prospects, nurture meaningful relationships and present partnership opportunities that drive revenue on a year-round basis. This position reports to the Director, Corporate Partnerships.

The Day to Day:

Corporate Partnership Development

  • Executes all phases of business development, including research, market analysis, and evaluation of potential partners.
  • Executes strategies to attract, retain, and grow new corporate partnerships centered in shared value. Successfully promote the organization’s products and services by understanding customer objectives.
  • Arranges weekly and monthly business calls and schedule other outreach initiatives for current and prospective clients.
  • Conducts research to identify new markets and customer needs.
  • Utilizes the qualification process for corporate prospects, including identification, research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship to develop customer profiles,
  • Builds trusted relationships with corporate prospects and implement individual engagement strategies to grow relationships through both digital and in-person platforms,
  • Updates database with customer, research, proposal, and contract/agreement information.

Corporate Partnership Stewardship

  • Sets, tracks, analyzes, and reports on corporate partners. Including tracking donor meetings and interactions by recording accurate and complete action notes into the customer database,
  • Uses goal tracking data to develop projections, troubleshoot issues, and adjust engagement strategies as required,
  • Attends UW and workplace campaign events as required to cultivate and/or steward current and potential corporate partners.
  • Maintains and grows an active pipeline of corporate prospects, including segmentation for specific United Way initiatives.
  • Engages staff and volunteers to empower them to contribute to the business development process.

Volunteer Engagement

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and volunteers.
  • Lead volunteer recruitment and community engagement efforts for the New Partnerships Cabinet.
  • Lead and assist with volunteer onboarding activities and develop excellent customer service processes.

About you:

It’s important to us that you understand the importance of relationships and how it impacts all our work. You are a skilled relationship builder with a track record of contributing to high performing teams to achieve success together. You have solid knowledge of sales and marketing strategies and account management. You enjoy problem solving and are comfortable gathering, analyzing and interpreting and utilizing all kinds of information in decision making. You are known for demonstrating accountability and striving for operational and administrative excellence.

You have an interest in fundraising practices, sponsorship are adaptable to different environments, love connecting with people and enjoy variety. You have prior work or volunteer experience in the non-profit sector.

You have a knowledge of MS Office (we use cloud-based Office 365) and CRMs and are comfortable in a digitally focused environment. Your background includes a post-secondary degree Business, Social Sciences, Humanities or a related area plus a minimum of four (4) to six (6) years related experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

A valid driver’s license and vehicle are required as some travel will be involved within Edmonton and surrounding area and you have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends depending on the events and meetings that are taking place.
