About the Role

The Position

The Client Group in Tokyo has an opening for a Relationship Analyst (“RA”). The successful candidate will be an integral member of our Tokyo team and will be primarily responsible for supporting and strengthening our relationships with institutional client utilizing Private Placed Japanese ITM platform. Commanding a thorough knowledge of our business, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, the RA will work closely with the business team on a portfolio of institutional relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The RA will assist and partner in the core aspects of business development, relationship management, and client servicing, including the following.

  • Support the governance of the ITM product management framework, partnering with Relationship Managers and internal stakeholders; oversee vendor relationships and SLAs (including trust banks, distributors, accounting agents, and system vendors); conduct periodic oversight and due diligence in line with internal audit and regulatory requirements; and manage approvals for fund launches, closures, and distribution payments.

  • Manage end-to-end documentation processes (drafting, preparation, dissemination, and maintenance) for fund-related activities, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders (including trust banks, distributors, and fund administrators) to support key events such as fund launches, terminations, and ongoing updates requiring documentation changes.

  • Oversight of the day-to-day ITM fund from operational perspective (NAV calculation, subscription/redemption, etc.) with internal teams and external parties.

  • Respond to client/prospects inquiries on a wide range of topics (product, portfolio, market/investment content related, fund launches and closures, servicing, etc.), often under significant time pressure.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with appropriate client/prospect contacts and participate in external meetings as appropriate.

  • Prospect support – qualifying and coordinating aspects of the sales lifecycle, including qualification of opportunities, RFP coordination, pitch material coordination, follow ups.

  • Build their internal network relationships and manage internal stakeholders for effective collaboration.

  • Incorporate product knowledge with firm awareness, the Analyst will be required to effectively communicate client expectations with a variety of internal constituents including portfolio services, legal and compliance, portfolio management, product management, investment operations, trading, and other functions.

QUALIFICATION

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in client servicing roles within the investment industry, including Japan ITM. Ideally this will include a background on the ITM structure knowledge, experience in the operational oversight function including the support of the compliance related matters (i.e. supporting internal compliance officers in terms of ITM disclosures or operational flow) at foreign affiliated investment management firms based in Tokyo, trust banks’ ITM fund accounting/administrative division and Japanese ITM firms’ fund accounting area.

  • Strong interest in investment management, with an analytical and problem-solving mindset and the ability to independently identify, research, and resolve unfamiliar issues.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities effectively and deliver in a fast-paced, high-capacity environment.

  • Demonstrated track record of achievement, strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a high level of professionalism.

  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, self-starter mindset and the ability to work both independently and within a team-based environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate ideas effectively in both client-facing and internal settings.

  • Fluency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken) is essential.

  • Strong academic credentials, including a bachelor’s degree; postgraduate qualifications or progress toward a CFA designation is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Bloomberg, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

  • Strong business judgment, with the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and creatively in both individual and group settings.
