In this role, you will support consultation and engagement activities associated with Suncor's upstream operations, including mining, in situ, reclamation, water management, and other regulatory and operational initiatives. You will oversee Government of Alberta consultation processes, driving stakeholder engagement, coordinating consultations, and ensuring community feedback is effectively captured and addressed. A key aspect of the role is developing strong partnerships with Indigenous communities through open, respectful, and culturally informed communication. The successful candidate will work closely with internal partner and support implementation of engagement and consultation strategies that foster mutual understanding and cooperation.

Minimum Requirements

• Seven or more years of relevant work experience including experience with formal consultation processes in Alberta
• Undergraduate degree in a Social Sciences field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Cultural agility and experience working with Indigenous communities
• Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate relationships with sensitivity and empathy
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage shifting priorities
• Ability to collect, document, and present information to support formal consultation requirements (such as issue notes, policies, key messages, corporate disclosures, risk assessments) in a thoughtful and clear way

Key Responsibilities

• Support and lead formal Government of Alberta consultation processes

Location & other key details

• This is an office-based role; open to individuals to working from Suncor’s Fort McMurray (Stoney Creek Village) or Calgary (6th Ave S.W.) offices. The successful candidate will be expected to be working from the physical office location

• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with potential for extended work/on-call hours based on business needs
• Occasional travel will be required to communities in the Wood Buffalo Region and to Suncor’s operating sites to support consultation work, engagement activities, and events in community
• Participate in on-call rotation for community notifications
