We are seeking a Reinsurance Treaty Intern in our Zurich Office.

What can I expect as an Intern?

On-the-job Learning
The Underwriting Intern will work alongside the most experienced underwriters in the industry to gain in-depth knowledge of our business units and underwriting philosophy through on-the-job learning, workplace mentoring as well as interact with departments associated with the underwriting process.

Responsibilities
• Gain a solid understanding of the Company’s underwriting philosophy.
• Assist in the underwriting process for new and renewal business.
• Assist with account processing.
• Analyze and research current and proposed accounts, assist in analyzing market trends and help prepare underwriters for both meetings and audits.
• Participate in projects for the department.
• Examples include market analysis; line of business research; product development.
• Accompany underwriters during internal meetings and occasional external marketing calls.
• Assist the team with special projects.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Currently pursuing degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or similar.

• Strong knowledge of Excel required; programming experience is a plus.

• Fluency in English, any another European language is an advantage.

• Basic knowledge of reinsurance preferred.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural team.

• Ability to manage workflow to ensure that deadlines are met.

• Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.

• Ability to think independently and formulate recommendations.

The successful candidates will acquire knowledge on reinsurance data, models and rating – we believe this provides a good opportunity for entering the wider reinsurance sector.

NB: Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Switzerland (e.g., French/German/Italian/ Spanish or any other EU-25 citizenship).
