The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB) was founded on June 30, 1866. Our first president considered HSB as “the first company in America devoted primarily to industrial safety.” “Hartford Standards” quickly became the specifications for boiler design, manufacture and maintenance.

HSB is a leader in equipment breakdown insurance, specialty coverages, inspection services, and engineering-based risk management for business, home and farm.

Location: Hybrid role; 3 days in-office at our Wayne, PA, USA location.

Purpose:

As a member of the Client Integration Team, handles all financial aspects of implementing and accurately recording medium to large sized Client Company financial information. Reconciles statements, registers assumed premiums, collects accounts receivable balances, participates in the month close process, and assists with the reconciliation of cash and registrations for Profit Sharing Plans. Completes special projects and executes ad-hoc reporting when requested.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong communications skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent PC Skills (Microsoft Office)
• Solid basic accounting background
• Excellent organizational skills
• Time management skills
• Prioritization skills
• Understanding of Insurance accounting concepts including ceding commissions, gross and net earned and written premiums.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business but preferable in Accounting or an Insurance concentration
• 3+ years experience in an Accounting role preferably with an insurance company, and at least 2 years experience as a Reinsurance Accountant.
