Within the context of a client and family-centered care model, and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision and values of the organization, including Indigenous Cultural Safety, cultural humility and anti-racism principles, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Program Manager or Team Leader and the practice supervision of the respective practice disciplines and the work direction of designated clinicians to work as a member of the interdisciplinary care team to carry out established activities of occupational therapy (OT), physiotherapy (PT), and recreation therapy (RecT). Responsibilities include implementing interventions as assigned by the OT/PT/RecT such as demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable clients to maximize their potential for independence, implementing recreational therapy groups, delivering exercise programs and assisting with the practice of daily living skills. Maintains established inventory of supplies and organizes and cleans equipment and supplies for activities. Reports relevant observations of client progress and behaviours. Provides support and direction to volunteers within programming. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Completion of an accredited Rehabilitation Assistant Program that includes theory and clinical practice experiences pertaining to the field of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, recreation therapy or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
