As a Rehab Aide, you willassistyour fellowcaregiversin the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques to patients managing functional limitations,impairmentsand disorders.Caregivers on our Rehab team are involved and hands-on withpatients everydayperforming the various modes of therapy to support the healing from Occupational, Physical and Speech Language Pathology.Ultimately, yourefforts help enhance treatment outcomes, improve motivation, boostmoraleand provide a welcoming environment to all those you meet.

A PRN caregiver in this position works 8-hour shifts between 7:30AM – 5:00PM, with flexibility needed on start and end times based on patient needs.A minimum of 4 weekend days in an 8-week schedule period, 1 premium holiday and 2 non-premium holidays per year will berequired

Floating between Martin North, Martin South and Tradition Hospitals will berequired, as needed.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Support inpatient and/or outpatient Physical Therapy and Orthopedic teams, including checking andmaintainingpar levels of supplies,ordering supplies and maintaining inventory levelsand storing supplies as received.

  • Contact vendors tofacilitateorders for prosthetics/orthotics and ensureappropriate chargingis completed.

  • Ensure billing/charging is completed ina timelyandaccuratemanner.

  • Assistwith patient flow and with moving, ambulating and transporting patients as directed.

  • For inpatient assignments:Perform orthopedic duties, set up traction, trapezes and CPM machines, apply, remove and modifycasts, and set up footboards, soft orthopedicgoodsand other related equipment.

  • Create a safe environment of care through rounding,maintainingthe equipment room and ensuring equipment is placed in soiled utility room for cleaning.

  • Perform orthopedic technician procedures.

  • Document verification of order in medical records.

  • Apply orthopedic appliances, soft goods and/or casts as ordered.

  • Assistwith the maintenance and cleanliness of supportive areas and equipment (e.g., equipment room, soiled utility room, medication/supply rooms, etc.).

  • Check orthopedic equipment monthly and clean andmaintainequipment without prompting.

  • Provide patient education on cast care and how to remove and apply splints.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Reasoning,mathematicaland English language skills

  • Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond tonumerousrequests

  • On-the-job training either at this facility or approved similar setting

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in an acute care setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is medium/frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies and materials up to 50 pounds without help of mechanical devices or other personnel.
  • Stooping, pushing, reaching and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.
  • Working Environment and Demands of Position: The occupant of this position spends 98% his/her time in air-conditioned areas, the remainder in outside areas. The potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is present while completing clinical duties.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
