Our Business

Brisbane City Council is one of the largest local governments in Australia, dedicated to building a better Brisbane. We deliver a wide range of services and infrastructure projects that support the city’s growth, sustainability, and liveability. Our commitment to safety, collaboration, and innovation underpins everything we do.

Our Branch

Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS) supplies services which help make Brisbane a fairer and safer place 24/7. Our focus is our Community Value, and we engage with people across the City in a consistent, responsive way, making strong decisions to resolve problems and deliver solutions.

CARS is divided into four dynamic work areas, all working together to deliver compliance and provide the highest level of community value to Brisbane residents.

The Role

Are you a proactive problem-solver with a passion for customer service and community outcomes? We’re looking for Regulatory Triage Officers to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring our community remains safe, compliant, and well-managed.

As a Regulatory Triage Officer, you will be the first point of assessment for incoming compliance requests, providing high-level customer service while expertly prioritising and directing work across our Compliance and Regulatory Services teams. Working within our structured triage model, you’ll assess requests, determine appropriate actions, and ensure matters are efficiently progressed—whether that’s investigation, education, enforcement, or referral to external agencies.

Triage matters to the appropriate teams can include but not limited to:

  • amenities (abandoned vehicles, illegal dumping, unmanaged properties, littering)
  • animal Services (noise complaints, fencing, registrations, impounds)
  • environmental Health (broader compliance and public health matters)

What are we looking for?

  • strong organisational skills to prioritise workloads, and make sound regulatory judgments
  • strong customer service focus with the ability to handle complex enquiries professionally
  • ability to type quickly and accurately while working, with strong skills in Word, Excel, and note-taking to ensure clear and concise communication
  • clear and professional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle a high volume of phone interactions
  • a customer-focused approach with the ability to quickly grasp legislation, interpret complex information, and convey it effectively to customers
  • proficiency in computer systems to maintain accurate records and manage workflows
  • experience in compliance, regulatory services, local government, or a similar environment (highly regarded).

Benefits of working for Council include:

  • flexible working hours, and flexible arrangements
  • award winning superannuation fund
  • generous leave provisions
  • competitive salary.
