Why GM Financial?

GM Financial is the wholly owned captive finance subsidiary of General Motors and is headquartered in Fort Worth, U.S. We are a global provider of auto finance solutions, with operations in North America, South America, and the Asia Pacific region. Through our long-standing relationships with auto dealers, we offer attractive retail financing and lease programs to meet the needs of each customer. We also offer commercial lending products to dealers to help them finance and grow their businesses.

At GM Financial, our team members define and shape our culture — an environment that welcomes new ideas, fosters integrity, and creates a sense of community and belonging. Here we do more than work — we thrive.

Our Purpose: We pioneer the innovations that move and connect people to what matters.

About this role:

The Regulatory Reporting Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of regulatory reports submitted to local authorities, ensuring full compliance with applicable reporting requirements and internal deadlines. Working under the leadership of the Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for the regulatory reporting cycle, including data validation, reconciliation against accounting records, documentation of internal controls and maintenance of supporting technical notes and procedures aligned with GM Financial (GMF) policy. Beyond the recurring cycle, this role will drive the continuous improvement and automation of reporting processes — identifying manual or low-value activities, designing more efficient and traceable solutions, and partnering on system and data initiatives to strengthen accuracy, auditability and turnaround time. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with both internal (Accounting, Credit Risk, IT, internal audit, etc.) and external (regulators, external auditors, system providers, etc.) counterparts.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare, review and submit recurring regulatory reports to local authorities (CNBV, Banco de México and other applicable regulators) within established deadlines and in accordance with current regulatory criteria.
  • Extract, validate and reconcile source data from systems, ensuring consistency between regulatory submissions and the financial statements.
  • Investigate and resolve variances, rejections and observations raised during the reporting cycle, documenting root cause and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update technical notes, procedure manuals and supporting documentation for each report, ensuring calculation methodologies and responsibilities are clearly defined and traceable.
  • Design, execute and document internal controls over the regulatory reporting process, and provide evidence and explanations to internal audit, external auditors and regulators as required.
  • Monitor regulatory publications and amendments, assess their impact on existing reports, and coordinate the implementation of required changes.
  • Identify manual, repetitive or control-sensitive activities within the reporting cycle and propose improvement opportunities that increase accuracy, efficiency and auditability.
  • Develop and maintain automated solutions and data queries (e.g., Excel/VBA, Power Query, Power BI, or similar) to streamline data preparation, validation and reporting.
  • Participate in system implementation and migration initiatives, including requirements definition, user acceptance testing (UAT), parallel runs and post-implementation validation.
  • Build and maintain reconciliations, dashboards and analytical reviews that support management's understanding of reported figures and trends.
  • Support special requests, regulatory inspections, ad-hoc analyses and other projects assigned by management.

What makes You an ideal candidate?

  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and automation of recurring reporting activities.
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with data and automation tools such as Power BI, SAS is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables under strict regulatory deadlines and month-end close pressure.
  • Proactive, self-directed and continuous-improvement oriented, with the ability to challenge the status quo and propose practical solutions.
  • Fluent in English & Spanish (will be evaluated during the interview).
  • Knowledge of preparing and mapping procedures and controls.

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:

  • Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
  • Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
  • Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
  • Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection

Work Experience & Education

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or similar field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in regulatory reporting, financial reporting, accounting, or credit risk within a bank, SOFOM, financial institution or a Big Four firm.
