Job Description

At Severn Trent, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re in the top 5% of utility companies worldwide for employee engagement, and we’re equally proud of our strong Glassdoor score — reflecting how much our people love working here.

Join us to make a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.

If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Are you looking to build a career in finance, data analysis, and regulatory reporting? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As a Regulatory Oversight Administrator, you'll join our Regulatory Performance and Delivery team and play an important role in supporting the reporting we provide to Ofwat, the economic regulator for the water industry. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll gain valuable exposure to regulatory reporting processes, business performance analysis, and the way operational and financial information helps shape key business decisions.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is curious, analytical, and eager to learn within a highly regulated environment. We'll support you in developing your technical skills, building confidence in working with stakeholders, and growing your understanding of finance, reporting, and regulation.

What you'll be doing

You'll support the delivery of important regulatory submissions, including the Annual Performance Report and quarterly forecasting activities, helping to ensure our reporting is accurate, consistent, and compliant.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the preparation of regulatory reports and submissions
  • Gathering, validating, and analysing data from across the business
  • Helping to monitor key regulatory performance measures and milestones
  • Producing reports and insights that support decision-making
  • Comparing business performance against industry benchmarks
  • Assisting with the preparation of internal and external reporting materials
  • Supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of reporting processes and tools
  • Tracking risks, issues, actions, and dependencies relating to regulatory reporting
  • Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Operations, and Compliance to gather information and share insights
  • Helping deliver regular reporting and engagement activities with Ofwat, including the Annual Performance Report, quarterly ODI forecasts, AMP8 Delivery Plan updates, and enhanced engagement meetings
  • Monitoring and maintaining mailboxes and regulatory correspondence

HOW WE WORK

You'll be based at our Severn Trent Centre in Coventry. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

You'll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why, we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. So, you'll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported, when you need it.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working with data, enjoys solving problems, and is keen to develop a career in a finance or regulatory environment.

You'll ideally be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • An interest in regulated industries and the role of economic regulation
  • The ability to present information clearly in written reports and documents
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work with others to find solutions
  • The ability to learn from experience and help improve processes
  • Confidence working independently and managing priorities effectively

Qualifications

We're open to candidates from a range of backgrounds. You may have:

  • A degree in Economics, Business Studies, or a related discipline; or
  • Relevant experience working within a regulated utility or similar industry.

HOW WE’LL REWARD AND CARE FOR YOU

It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too.

We have a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training to ensure you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the community in which we live.

About Severn Trent

Water is wonderful. Without it we’d be lost. With it, everything’s possible. For every toothbrush, for every loo flushed. For the hot showers, the cool drinks, the cups of tea. But it’s not just at the heart of our homes. It’s at the heart of everything; our schools, our businesses, our hospitals. Saving lives, helping communities thrive.

We’re Severn Trent, a diverse and amazing group of people who want to keep it that way. We bring you clean water and we take it away safely too. But it’s not just what we do. It’s how we do it: not just talking, but going over and above. Stepping up and rolling our sleeves up.

It’s because we care. Not only about our water but our corner of the country. And we care for our amazing people who make all this possible. Don’t just take our word for it; we’re a Glassdoor Top 50 Company – one of the best employers in the UK right now.

At Severn Trent, we do more, because we care.
