Job Description

Your Mission

You're the person who ensures that WD-40 Company — one of the world's most recognized consumer brands — can legally exist in every market we serve across the Americas. From the formula in the can to the label on the outside, you make sure we're compliant before a single product hits a shelf. You'll work across chemical registries, packaging regulations, and evolving legislation in the U.S., Latin America, and Canada — and you'll do it with the precision of a scientist and the instincts of a strategist.

Why This Role Is Unique

This isn't checkbox compliance. You'll be building forward-looking regulatory intelligence — spotting bans and requirements years before they hit — so our R&D and supply chain teams can adapt proactively rather than scramble reactively. You'll be a trusted internal advisor, a liaison with regulatory agencies, and a key partner to commercial teams navigating complex, sometimes ambiguous jurisdictional landscapes.

You'll also step into this role with a rare advantage: a structured transition alongside a 30-year institutional expert whose knowledge you can absorb directly.

This role offers the flexibility of working a hybrid schedule between your home and our office in Pine Brook, NJ.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. and should not require sponsorship now or in the future to legally work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Multi-jurisdictional product registration — managing chemical compliance and notifications across every market in the Americas
  • Regulatory intelligence — tracking emerging legislation (from PTFE bans to recycled plastics mandates) and translating risk into actionable timelines for R&D and supply chain
  • Customer compliance sign-off — responding to retailer requests (e.g., Walmart approved product lists) and certifying WD-40 Company’s compliance without disclosing trade secrets
  • Packaging & labeling compliance — monitoring and applying regulatory changes to artwork and labels before market deadlines hit
  • Formula change filings — updating chemical registries when formulations evolve
  • Risk assessment — interpreting ambiguous regulatory requirements and developing defensible organizational positions
  • Cross-functional advising — coaching R&D, supply chain, and commercial teams on regulatory implications
  • External agency collaboration — working with specialized aerosol and chemical compliance partners

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience, ideally in CPG or specialty chemicals
  • Deep familiarity with chemical registrations and product compliance across multiple U.S. and Latin American jurisdictions
  • Ability to interpret ambiguous, evolving, or conflicting regulations and build defensible positions
  • Strong scientific literacy — you can read and translate formulation data into regulatory documentation
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • A detail orientation that borders on obsessive — filings, registrations, and deadlines cannot slip
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and escalating judgment calls appropriately

Nice to Have

    • Experience with aerosol or household chemical products
