Summary/Overview:

KBRA’s Regulatory and Government Affairs team is seeking a highly motivated Director to support the firm’s engagement with regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders across the UK and Europe. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of financial regulation, capital markets, and public policy while contributing to KBRA’s regulatory and government affairs initiatives.

This role will serve as KBRA’s primary Regulatory and Government Affairs representative based in Europe, helping to expand the firm’s regulatory profile and strengthen relationships with policymakers and supervisors throughout the region. The Director will support ongoing engagement with UK and EU regulators, national competent authorities, policymakers, public officials, trade associations, and other industry stakeholders on issues affecting credit rating agencies and the broader financial services industries.

The Director will monitor policy and regulatory developments, conduct policy research and analysis, prepare materials for senior leadership, coordinate regulatory outreach, and support strategic engagement across Europe. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in European financial regulation, public policy, government affairs, or regulatory engagement who are looking to take on significant responsibility in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

About the Job:

Regulatory and Policy Monitoring

  • Monitor and analyze policy, regulatory, and supervisory developments affecting credit rating agencies and the broader financial services sector across the United Kingdom and the European Union.
  • Track emerging regulatory initiatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, ESMA, EBA, EIOPA, ECB, FCA, BOE, HMT, and national competent authorities.
  • Assess the potential implications of regulatory developments for KBRA and the credit markets.

Policy Research and Analysis

  • Conduct research and prepare analyses on key European and UK policy initiatives related to capital markets, securitization, banking regulation, insurance regulation, sustainable finance, artificial intelligence, digital finance, operational resilience, and oversight of credit rating agencies.
  • Prepare briefing memoranda, policy summaries, consultation analyses, executive briefings, speeches, and talking points for senior management.

Regulatory and Government Engagement

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with European and UK regulators, policymakers, public officials, supervisory authorities, trade associations, and industry participants.
  • Represent KBRA in meetings with regulators and policymakers throughout Europe.
  • Coordinate and support responses to public consultations, policy proposals, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Help strengthen KBRA's visibility and reputation through ongoing engagement with key stakeholders across Europe.
  • Participate in industry conferences, regulatory roundtables, consultations, and policy forums throughout the UK and Europe.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Communications, Business Development, and Analytical teams to support coordinated regulatory strategy and consistent external messaging.
  • Provide regulatory intelligence and policy guidance to business leaders across the organization.
  • Coordinate European regulatory initiatives with KBRA's Regulatory and Government Affairs teams across the globe.

Special Projects

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives related to regulatory developments, public policy priorities, and industry trends.
  • Assist with projects involving regulatory coordination and external engagement efforts.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Law, International Relations, Finance, or a related field.
  • Approximately 6–10 years of experience in financial regulation, government affairs, public policy, legislative affairs, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulatory and policy processes.
  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex policy issues clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with policy tracking tools, regulatory databases, or financial market research platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and productivity enhancement is a plus.
