Regulatory Accounting Analyst

This position serves as a senior accounting lead responsible for complex investment pool accounting, trust and endowment oversight, and regulatory financial reporting. The role provides functional leadership through training, process improvement, and coordination with internal departments, auditors, donors, and external partners.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Lead accounting and reconciliation for the university’s unitized investment pool
  • Analyze investment activity and prepare complex journal entries and reports
  • Manage accounting for trusts, annuities, and deferred gifts
  • Oversee endowment setup, administration, and donor financial reporting
  • Monitor and report on endowment balances and compliance with donor intent
  • Track and manage proposed endowments and related funding activities
  • Maintain accounting for donated property and investment assets
  • Support audits, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and lead process improvements
  • Train and supervise student employees and support staff

What qualifies you for this role:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field plus two years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Experience with account reconciliations and financial analysis
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Proficiency with financial systems and software

Preferred:

  • Three to five years of professional accounting experience
  • Experience with investment, endowment, or nonprofit accounting
  • Experience with Workday or similar financial systems
  • Knowledge of AICPA nonprofit accounting guidance and UPMIFA
  • Experience supporting audits and complex financial reporting

Pay Grade: 53

Typical Starting Pay: $73,000-$95,000

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
